best laptop to buy for someone with very little experience of using them, will use mainly for surfing - dont think she'll be visiting Fab tho - under £400 hopefully. Thanks

dell do some good deals, we have 3 lappys from them, used to spend more on better brands but theyve all been great

I would go with the bog standard to be honest...replaced mine the other month due to a spillage incident (oops) and replaced with another toshiba, forgot about the camera though, so had to buy one as an afterthought.....just a reminder...in case they will want to use this..x

I just bought a Mio Netbook for £149.99 from TJ Hughes. It does everything you want a little pc to do. 1.6ghz Atom Intel, 1gb RAM, 16gb HDD, built in camera, wireless, two USB ports, Win XP preloaded.

Proper cute little lappy. Daughter will love it for Xmas.
