Woman's Hour had a phone in on how happy we are with our family lives.
One caller made the comment that you can't choose your family but if you could no one would choose him.
Would your family choose you and why?
If they wouldn't, why?
This is meant as a light-hearted thread.

sent away to a boarding school for my youth, left as soon as I could, they wouldn't pick me if you paid them...... now that I'm a little older its quite sad actually |

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I'd ask them but I don't think they'd give an honest answer.
I think it would probably be a yes even though I am a bit of the black sheep though. |

I found it funny when my exes family chose me over her as she had done the dirty on me. I still go round various family members each week and nothing has changed in their eyes. |

You have been properly chosen! That's good for your child to know the family still welcome you, not so good if they know their mother is frowned upon.

You have been properly chosen! That's good for your child to know the family still welcome you, not so good if they know their mother is frowned upon.

I went to great lengths to explain to my daughter that Daddy loved her and it was Mummy's fault when we split up that I was leaving. Didn't want her thinking it was my fault and resent me for something I hadn't done. |

my mum wouldn't choose me I've always been a grave disappointment to her because of my looks and that's not me being dramatic she used to tell me all the time when I was a child |

I have a split family, my mother was glad to see the back of me when I joined the army, and my siblings on my mothers side have told me they are glad they don't have to deal with me and the way I live.
My siblings on my fathers side are much the same, but my dad and I were the ones who understood each other, he would have picked me, even though he had more women in his 50s than I hav had in my whole life, the dirty old dog, rip little papa |

I get on reasonably well with my family now. I always felt my Mother would have been happy to not have had me and my sisters when we were younger, but I suspect she sees the benefit of us now

Ok now I'm thinking about the types of cake...Victoria sponge I'd say was one and a lemon drizzle maybe...off topic, sorry ...
Mine would probably choose me, generally because I tend to get on with most of them, cutting through unevessary factions, or just swear inappropriately to break the tension
I also bring decent booze to gatherings, that may help. |
