"it would be really useful if you could actually tell us what has happened " the website for people seeking extramarital affairs, has suffered a major cyber attack, with hackers threatening to expose the names of adulterers unless the site is taken offline.

"I bet there are some worried people out there after this . Is it that easy for them to hack into a site like that and why .? makes you think what next ."
In fairness I can imagine they would invest heavily in it security but when you get Governments and the like being hacked its more a reflection on the quality of the hacker I think |

The hackers -- or hacker, perhaps -- appear to be upset over the company's "full delete" service, which promises to completely erase a user's profile, and all associated data, for a $19 fee.
"Full Delete netted [Avid Life Media] $1.7 million in revenue in 2014. It's also a complete lie," the hackers were quoted as saying in a manifesto published by Krebs. "Users almost always pay with credit card; their purchase details are not removed as promised, and include real names and address, which is of course the most important information the users want removed."
I always find it funny when hackers do it for reasons other financial benefit. Often you see it is either for fun or some twisted moral value.

It's not just this site, but as others have stated, this "brand" is just one of many dating sites which use the same data.
Fabswingers is one of the few not in that group. |

They hacked Sony and AM and those sites are much more sophisticated than this. Here is an interesting article to give you nightmares! http://time.com/3964983/ashley-madison-users-the-internet-is-real-life/ |

"Let's hope security on this place is top notch. "
Why ?
I am not married.
I haven't given my bank details
I didn't give my home address.
I didn't give my phone number.
I didn't even give my boob size. |

Because it wouldn't be a good advert, it would be all over the press. Influx of newbies |

You think people would be rushing to join a site that had just been hacked? I suspect the reverse would be true! |

"Although i do see addresses and user names.
Oh dear that isnt fair.
Password hashes as well."
Oh! I'm betting some people are rehearsing surprised reactions to their friends putting their details on there for a laugh. |

"They are threatening to release it all to main stream media if their demands aren't met though.
Cyber sex terrorists! "
I think main stream media might now have second thoughts on publishing information obtained by hacking

I'd imagine that any site like that is already selling all the data it holds onto third parties. More than likely it's "in" the T & C's.
The saga of the "Hacking Crew" being hacked themselves makes for interesting, if maybe worrisome, reading. |

"I wonder how well protected fabswingers is ?
Would be somewhat ironic if a swingers site didn't use protection " On the new s it said no sites are really safe as there are ways around things if you know how things work . |
