Whilst on my travels I read magazines in airports etc.
I came across an article about how is British people really do over use the word SORRY when half the time we don't need to say it.
I have been keeping count of how many times Iv said it the few days (in everyday life) and still thinking, I really didn't need to apologise to the lidl cashier for touching his hand whilst picking up the item to put in the trolley and there are several others I could explain about too.
Do any of you feel you say the word sorry when there is no need to say it? |

Yes far too often and too many incidents to mention....
I guess it is our way of being over polite when we don't need to. Unfortunately society has made the way we think and act change because of everything that goes on in the world |

Henning Wehn - An Immigrant's Guide to Britain was on a few months ago,
On it they asked random questions to people, Like have you got the time or do you know where a place/shop is and everyone they asked said sorry if they didn't know the answer,
They come to the conclusion that British people do over use the word sorry,
I'm not sure if that's what you were asking but there you go,
Sorry |

I think you should say sorry when you think you've genuinely done something you really should be apologising for. I'm sure you'll agree, it's really annoying when someone doesn't say sorry to you for something you feel they should be apologising for. Could you imagine a world where we don't say sorry for anything. With the way people's manners are going nowadays we are heading that way I think. There's a hell of a lot of arrogant cunts out there already.
You don't want to over do it but I'm all for it myself. Just say sorry if you think you've inconvenienced someone in someway. |

I'm awful for it but can't seem to switch it off. - Like if someone is blocking my path, where I should just say "Excuse me" it comes out as "Sorry, can I get past?".
I think that gives people the wrong impression of me though as they then get quite a shock when I turn nasty (I'll only ask someone once).
