A 6 week "get ripped" challenge

I joined a new gym today after being off injured for a few months. I joined up for 6 weeks to see how I like it there so ive decided to see how ripped I can get within those 6 weeks - I know about training and dieting and before anyone says anything to the contrary, people can make dramatic transformations within the same time frame.
So here goes project "from shit to fit" |

So what's the plan to make the transformation...
Also..if your pictures are anything to go by, you've got a pretty advantageous starting position compared to many, I'd imagine... |

"Good luck. I would rather do carb loading, when you don't train eat less calories then when you train eat more
On daily basis."
I was thinking of intermittant fasting... Training in the morning so burning fat then only eating within a set window say 2pm till 8pm. Need to check my macros but looking at around 2800 calories a day. Ive not done carb cycling before, do you find it works well? |

My only plan so far is to start training again as havnt been in a gym since the start of the year as I hurt my back. Ive been very fortunate I havnt gained or lost much weight since then so you could say I was in a better position than some |

Ive started not eating until after 4pm. I figure the amount of running around I do at work with no food in my belly must be burning fat. Seems to be working so far, im 4lbs down this week!! |

Well a few lbs have crept back on since I went back to work and my routine went out the window. So needed to change it up a bit and get back on track. Hoping to shift another 10lb by mid September then I'll be back at the gym and I'll go back to what I was doing before which is not eating till after my workout around lunchtime. |

"Starving yourself......way to go! "
It's not starving yourself. You just eat the amount of calories within a shorter space of time. For example between 12 and 6. Then don't eat again till 12 the next day. |

No disrespect, but when I read this sort of thing - makes me despair.
Seriously what is it about overweight girls and crazy eating ideas?
Eat properly and forget this rubbish.
Have a breakfast, a lunch and a dinner.
Your body will get fucked up by these crazy routines

Yes I found that carb loading works good cos it wont allow your body to get used to the same amount of carbs u know, its called nutrition memory, that fasting you do sounds good as well and yes have mostly it all around ur workouts and morning. |

I want to get myself fit, the only problem is I can't get motivated to do it, you see my problem is that I'm very happy with myself as a person, and deep down I don't feel like I need to change anything, so I just use the time I would use to go to the gym, to do other things, once I get started I'll be fine, it's just my self confidence is a barrier to getting started, funny how things turn out isn't it |

I overheard an old ( in their 70's) couple of friends having a conversation at a recent family do. They hadn't seen each other for a while....something like 5 yrs and one of them said to the other " if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken more care of my body" so I decided that I'm going to keep reminding myself of those words. Cos it's true....we're precious! |

Sorry I think you read that wrong, I'm very confident, im very happy with myself, some would say I need to lose weight but nothing is rocking my confidence these days, I could walk into any gym any where and not feel intimidated by guys half my age with awesome physiques, it's just who I am now, it's not always been the case, but that's me now, I guess if I was arrogant I would say I'm perfect so why change, but I'm no so I wont |

Yes I know it does I know of people that have been recommended it by a doctor as well. This 3 meals a day business is insane. I don't believe you should eat even if you aren't hungry or at certain times. Everyone should find what works best for them and stick with it. |

If someone's just losing weight, it's worth paying attention to your basal metabolic rate, which will likely decrease, as the weight falls away.
To the op - I think you'll do well in 6 weeks, if your photos are you currently. It will be great to see the results afterwards.
I like high intensity interval training, which raises your metabolism for hours after your session finishes, thus burning off more calories than a standard routine. But I'm no body builder etc, I just love being fit. |

A Galaxy Far, Far Away & Spain |
Sorry if this appears to be hijacking the thread but like kinkybutler I'd like to be more fit but I've got the a few issues.
• I haven't exercised (regularly) since I pushed my way outta the birth canal in 1962.
• I've never been sporty or enjoyed competitive activities.
• I'M SLIM BUILT & NOTHING PUTS WEIGHT ON ME.
• I can vary in my stomach from appearing to have abs to not, don't have pecs or biceps, & even my once granite like ass is overshadowed my the only exterior muscle - my wanger. Even my interior muscle, my brain, tells me to get off my ass & exercise but my motivation is zero, zilch, bubkiss, nada.
So my questions to all those that do spend a good proportion of time working out...
* Where do you find the time (when Forums & Fab & work & other commitments capture your attention more)?
* Can someone like me find the key to "enjoying" regular exercise & build up after years of neglect?
* What would be your tips to a mere novice?
* Can you help motivate me?
I used to enjoy a bit of swimming, dancing, & cycling when the weather permitted (fat chance in Scotland). However my current work sees me running my own small business & although it's physical I know that's going to demand much of my energy.
Can you help motivate me?
Cheers. |

I find it helps with my motivation and as he has been working out for years he gives me tips on training + what to eat and when |

I like IF, takes a few days to get used to having your first meal that late in the day, but after the first 3 days it's easy, just make sure you hit your macros in the evening. I find I have more energy and and get less headaches eating like this, plus you can change ur calories intake on training days to get better results. It's been proven to help increase insulin sensitivity, with a bit of hiit your on to a winner |

I'd like to get a bit more toned, I think it's just a case of enjoying my food and being comfortable with myself.
I do think society could eat better, so many additives, sugar, carbs and general shit in food these days that people don't realise / care about.
Exercise and diet are very individual, definitely no excuses not to live healthy really though. |

I do eat 2 meals plus a fruit snack.. Except my breakfast is at about 3.30/4pm.. There's no written law about what time you have to eat certain meals. As long as you're getting the correct nutrition in a day who cares!! |

You've lost weight and sounds like you've done it healthily. The 'starving yourself' issue often comes from those who lack willpower or desire so it's irrelevant to them. |

I thought that was just a myth. Couldn't you just eat 3 bigger meals as long as you are hitting your macros? Yes we could do that to, but as you eat loads of carbs its easier for the stomach to digest it in smaller portions, but yes you can also eat it in 3 meals everything which I do as well some days."
The more meals is because it would be near on impossible to hit ur macros of protein if u say needed 250g a day due to the body only being able to digest around 40-50 grams in on sitting! therefore obv needing more meals to hit the number required!
if u can hit ur macros in 3 meals then happy days! |

I'm planning on going to Chams at the end of August and need to get into a conditional where being naked won't frighten people!
I'm starting tennis once a week on Wednesday and will try to supplement that with weights 3 days a week.. Just need to figure out some routines!
