Yeah all the time, its still the best way to get the max from it. |

not sure if it is still the case, but I let my battery run right down as I was once told it is better for the battery
now that was in the year dot and batteries may be different |

I only have one phone and turn it off in meetings etc. It often runs out of battery too because I forget to charge it.

A mobile phone is not an essential part of anyone's being....
I happily switch mine off and I certainly don't feel obliged to answer calls or texts or keep the battery topped up.... |

I fail to see what age has to do with anything in this post.
My phone is accessible when I want it to be accessible.

Would I be wrong in thinking the motive behind the question relates to a response from 'someone' as to why they didn't get in touch/reply to a message/answer a call ?
Because sometimes things like flat batteries, no signal or a need to turn a phone off so happen. Even to fabswingers members.
Shocking. I know.

I often turn mine off when it's charging so it charges quicker as the apps won't be running. Also has been known when in areas of low signal to behave like it's off and go straight to answer phone quickly even with two bars of signal. |

It's a smart phone versus phones used just as phones thing. I was just stating my experience of the younger generation permanently having them on (accessible). |

Not sure relationship status really matters. When I was single, I would still ignore my phone when it came to family time or nights out with friends. You're best off asking as opposed to guessing. |

Of course status can matter. If it's a Fab phone, your partner doesn't know about it as it's only turned on when you're alone. |

Not everyone has a need - or a desire - to have their phone on 24/7
For example, My dad only has his mobile switched on when he isn't at home.
My mum switches hers on even less.

As to cheating surname address and 192.com is the best way , or a visit to see the local electoral role .
Then a quick search in London gazette and local insolvency office .
Then maybe a google of his name you can get my address phone number from Google
The following will probably get you arrested
Breaking into house
Sitting outside his house in a hedge
Following him Around |

I can safely deduce the phone is never on (which is why I rang and not text).
He cannot accommodate (due to house sharing... Not a red flag on it's own).
He gets sent abroad a great deal but only has a basic phone.
Other little things...
They can all add up to nothing or something.
My problem is that I could quite happily lust after him. I haven't met a guy in ages, with whom that happens. |

I don't allow myself to be without my phone for long, not sure whether I count as one of your "younger generation" but it is pretty much permanently attached to me.
However, getting back to what this post is really about, it's not been my experience that married or attached men can't answer the phone after 5:30pm or never speak on the phone or can't send a text, or many of the other "signs" trotted out regularly on these forums.
That said, if you're suspicious then it's probably pointless pursuing it anyway because you've already made your mind up and I doubt he could do anything to convince you otherwise. |

My phone is on 24/7.
Overnight it's on charge so always ready for use the next day.
During the day if I'm online a lot or lots of calls the battery has gone flat in the past.
If I'm I'm the office it's on all the time unless there are sensative documents around, in which case it goes in the safe.
Equally if I'm "on site" the phone will be in the safe while I'm out, so texts, emails and calls go unanswered.
Not sure if that helps.....

It's not about being suspicious or not trusting. It's simply weighing up what the signs could mean and rationalising them (in my favour), he's a kinky fella and I love that .
If he is hiding a relationship, then it's thanks for a great night but good luck and goodbye. I'm not going to feel guilty. |

My problem is that I could quite happily lust after him. I haven't met a guy in ages, with whom that happens."
If you get sent abroad a lot why have a fancy phone that risks being stolen or racking up huge bills on Internet charges, |

I let mine run out of battery. Or I don't take it out with me sometimes.
If you're suspicious of someone for any reason though you clearly don't trust them. Perhaps best not to pursue it? |

"Have you asked him outright?"
Yes right at the beginning of our communications but I think an "are you sure you're not hiding a girlfriend or wife somewhere?" now needs to be asked |

"if I know I've an upcoming meet(I mean within the near future)...no..
my phone tends to be on as much as possible though
That's my mode of thought (hence alarm bells).
Trust your instincts. If it seems dodgy then just be aware. It could be legit or it could be tripe."

Precisely! |

"not sure if it is still the case, but I let my battery run right down as I was once told it is better for the battery
now that was in the year dot and batteries may be different "
This is pretty much still true.
Better to let your battery rundown before charging- extends the battery life.
But this battery lark is a pain- I have to recharge every day + I make a point of having no apps on my phone. Apart from bog standard stuff like browser, messages and email |

"So what are the red flags?
I can safely deduce the phone is never on (which is why I rang and not text).
He cannot accommodate (due to house sharing... Not a red flag on it's own).
He gets sent abroad a great deal but only has a basic phone.

Guys I have dated/met who work internationally, have always had high spec work phones. I appreciate this won't always be the case. |

Yeah I'd agree, just ask him. You can generally tell when someone's lying outright to your face. |

I would look it up on 192 and then ask
May be nothing and just make you look paranoid if nothing there
Have you ever thought he may be a idiot or retarded and can't use a phone |

the odds are against you here
And I am running a book
Best chance evens = married
30 /1 = idiot
9000/1 = spy

"I'll pose a different question: If you claim to only have one phone, would you ever turn it off or allow it to run out of battery?"
My phone battery is rubbish but I tend but to have it adjoined to my hand if in company. Ran out of battery the other day when out and I lived.
You can ask him without accusing and take it from there, you'll know. |

After breaking my work phone for the third time, I was given a retro flip phone by IT. Maybe his company trusts him with high cost electronics to a similar degree |

"I don't think you need to go all Columbo on him. You don't trust him right now so ask him to his face. If you still don't believe him then end it"
I said earlier it's not about trust (which means it's not about distrust either).
Anyway I've deleted him. He could still be legit but since he hasn't been in touch, considering we were supposed to be meeting today, and he cancelled our last meet, I've decided not to waste anymore time wondering/analysing/rationalising red flags. |

I'm a fake too. Apparently posting on the forum without an avatar and with a hidden profile is proof positive that I'm a bloke pretending to be a woman.
Of course that one is correct. |

Yeah.
All the time.
My phone battery sucks balls.
But if I had a meet planned with someone I'd make sure it was charged and on. |

It's a moot point now as he made no attempt to contact me either on here when he logged in, or by phone.

"I'll pose a different question: If you claim to only have one phone, would you ever turn it off or allow it to run out of battery?"
Even though the battery on m phone lasts several days, I put it on charge every evening when I return home from work and put it in my handbag in the morning before leaving for work
I find that carrying a phone with a dead battery is just carrying dead weight which is occupying space in my handbag |
