Okay I am driving Mr mad as I tend to use sayings like this one which he says he has never heard of...
"Soft as butter".... apparently in Yorkshire its "Soft as Shit"...
Are there any other variations of this... or other sayings that have a North/south Divide.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"My mum uses made up 'sayings' all the time like
Look at that for the price of fish
That's a good bit of schmutter
This won't buy the baby a new hat
"
I've heard of all of those. She didn't make them up.
I use "odd fish" to describe some people - he's an odd fish.

My mother wasn't one for sayings, other than "I'll give you something to cry about".

Less of a saying, more an exhortation, but I've always been fond of haddaway and shite. Gets used a lot in my office.
My husband has picked up some weird ones from working with teenagers. "Try a bag of nee chance" is one I've caught too. |

If things take a turn for the worse I always say "Gone downhill faster than a dead bison on roller blades".
Or that classic when referring to less than helpful staff..."As much use as an ashtray on a motorbike" |

My Granddad, instead of 'well I never' would say 'well I'll go to the foot of our stairs'. As a somewhat literally minded child this confused me as he lived in a bungalo.
However, in the spirit of investigation and having a curious mind I do remember standing at the bottom of our stairs at home and deciding that it wasn't a particularly surprising experience. (once a geek, always a geek) |

My Grandad used to say - have you seen tup over yon tump. Which translated as - have you see sheep over that hill. My friends could never understand half of what he said. I could though. |
