http://www.itv.com/news/wales/2015-07-16/daughters-cancel-fundraising-for-mums-suicide-after-police-visit/
Two daughters organising a fundraiser so they can pay for their mother to commit suicide at a Swiss clinic say they have cancelled a planned fundraiser after a visit from police. Tara O'Reilly and Rose Baker are desperately trying to raise £8,000 to send 59-year-old matriarch Jackie Baker to euthanasia unit Dignitas.
But following a visit from Dyfed Powys Police officers on Thursday the event, which was to be held in Llanelli, has now been postponed.
Is it time the law was changed? Would you go to a similar fundraiser? (If the party wasn't cancelled.) |

Yes it is time the law was changed, but I probably wouldn't go to such a party. I suspect the conversation would be somewhat stilted. |

It is time the law was changed.
Why should terminally ill people who are suffering etc not be allowed to choose their fate and pass away peacefully with their family in comfortable surroundings
We "put dogs out of their misery" out of compassion so they don't suffer needlessly |

Near enough |
I have a friend who has made no secret of the fact that when her time comes (she has terminal cancer after beating it 10+yrs ago after being originally told she had weeks to live and now with only 6 months to live) she will travel to somewhere that she can die with total dignity. She watched my mum die of cancer and it was cruel and horrible to see someone you love so much deal with such a horrid end of life. |

The law should be changed. People are capable of making a rational decision to die of ther own accord. I wouldn't go to the party though, think it'd be really upsetting. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Yes, the law should be changed. I would rather die with dignity than live in unending pain, with dementia, MND or a number of other things.
I wouldn't go to a party as a fundraiser though. Raising money to end someone's life is counter-intuitive to me, plus you get into the minefield of what you do with the money if they change their mind as you'd have to give it back to the donors. I would help with costs for those close to me where I have discussed the matter with them and know that is the only choice for them.
A party just sounds a bit odd. However, if it was a party to give the person a great send-off I would attend if I knew them. |

People should not have to fund raise to die a dignified painless death. Its a very brave or desperate person who leaps into the abyss and a brave person who helps them.
We let human beings suffer in ways that would get us prosecuted if they were an animal.
If we all have free will how we live our lives surely we should ahve free will how we end it? |
