If I want to listen to a piece of music I believe that I also wish to pay the writer, performer, sound engineer, studio staff so they will be there to make the next piece I want to listen to.
So I will buy it not steel it.
If I only want to listen to it once then I will put up with lower quality and listen on YouTube or similar. |

I don't mind buying music but I refuse to pay 15 quid for a film I paid a tenner to watch at the cinema and will likely watch maybe twice at tops at home.
I download TV shows because I don't want a TV licence and I prefer to watch them at my convenience. |

"I dont do it cos its illegal. No daubt the nsa or anyone similar r onto them. Its not a matter of if its when."
Typically (but not totally exclusively), if they're going to go for anyone, it's going to be those that host the torrents etc. For most people downloading content, they just will not bother - too many people doing it and it's time consuming. They go for the source.
Having said that, I don't really torrent at all. Perhaps the odd album, but I typically buy my stuff now. (If you're offering HQ goods at good prices, I won't feel like I need to torrent!) |

I just stream stuff, don't see the point in keeping physical copies of anything any more.
Do know someone who downloads things while at work so he can watch them later on though. |

The music industry now makes millions from tours (historically they ran at a big loss), so its not like they're starving to death. No qualms about downloading music anymore, I mean, its not like we used to tape each others vinyl albums is it? |

For me, I have 2 music collections. The first is stuff I want to listen too and am happy to pay for the other is stuff I have for playing discos at school (for free) this music is generally shite and I download it because I'm not paying for that crap.

The school have never asked but, they do pay to PRS so the artist's get the same as if I only play things I've bought.
Ultimately I'm still not buying that crap..... |

"How many people here download TV shows/films/music from torrent sites? I've been doing it a while and was wondering if it's a common thing or am I the minority? "
My mates do it.
But I just like paying for stuff. You know. |

**A very small section of** the music industry now makes millions from tours would be a more accurate statement.
I pay for stuff. I've got talented friends who have had record deals etc and not a pot to piss in, happy to support musicians I think are good. |

Which is sort of like a shoplifter excusing his theft from tesco by saying he only steals tesco value products, if it's music on youtube it ain't legal generally... |
