In the country that invented democracy wtf has happened?

Last week a referendum ...the most democratic thing possible...rejected the bail out terms overwhelmingly. The cirisa government was elected on a no to more austerity ticket.

Yet now they have agreed to even stronger austerity and bail out conditions..... Democracy in Greece is dead if this is voted through!

Well lets say they vote to go out of eu, one person there said that they would be afraid that they wouldn't have democracy, does it mean its military rule?.

The referendum was a bit of a cheat, tbh...

And the Athenians only achieved a very limited democracy (about 10-20% of the pop could vote, and NO WOMEN) for about 70 years in the 4th cent. BC.

So yeah...

Greek did invent a certain form of Democracy, Yet it origins are from Mesopotamia... a relic from that period lays in The British Museum, with the first form of Human Rights...."The Cyrus Cylinder"

Democracy my arse!

The government tried a one trick pony stance to go the rest of the EU and say the people have spoken. They were then told so be it off you go and good luck with IMF and CEB because they wont give you a pot to piss in. If you want to try Putin have another referendum and let the people speak.

So they backed down and should have implemented the saving packages they signed up to 3 years ago. The option of having no money or the drachma was not an option.

Demous Rousoss would turning in his ern!
