Just reading the post on taxi's in Rotherham and noticed Muslim this Muslim that. when i was growing up people of ethnic origin were rightly or wrongly referred to by presumed country of origin !! Rather than their beliefs, when and why did this change and can it be classed as racist to differentiate on religious grounds ??

All changed after 9/11 in my opinion and steadily got stronger over the years through media. I've met both black and white muslims... like the OP said growing up people were referred to by country of origin... Indian or Paki where I grew up but now they are referred to as Muslims.
When people state no muslims does that mean they don't mind meeting Sihks although they are Asian?
Not wanting to start the it's my preference speeches just food for thought... as I said earlier I've also met white muslims. |
