"So basically the newspaper steals pics, they can get done for that, at least they had fun there lol.
So if they printed your antics & pics you'd be happy with that?" No I wouldn't, but didn't they meet the couple?. |

As I say, a bit shit. "

About the level of "journalism" that you'd expect from the tabloids!
But did anyone else find it amusing that immediately below the article there was a link to another titled "Glastonbury Surprise: Libertines rumoured to fill empty Pyramid Stage slot"? That couldn't have been entirely accidental, could it? |

"So legally where would these people stand? Are the press allowed to publish pictures from this couple without consent? "
The images are in the public domain by being on the internet as far as I know.
Be cautious. |

"So legally where would these people stand? Are the press allowed to publish pictures from this couple without consent? "
I was wondering that, if they are on their profile as public pictures, then I would assume so as they are already out in the public domain, albeit the public domain of fab which anyone can join. If they were private pics for friends only, not sure what the stance would be |

The article talks of the journo being messaged pics - if these are private not public and sent by message or text could these fall under the new laws? |

Shock horror... couple use specialist members only website to arrange to do something with other members who would also like to do those things behind closed doors and away from the public eye... all without anyone knowing.
That's disgusting!!!! Those perverted exhibitionists... flashing their bits around in utter privacy like that.
What excellent journalism. Next they'll be telling me that some couples get naked when they go to bed... disgusting! absolutely disgusting |

Shows how interested folks are though. Zero FB, Twitter etc likes and no shared links.
People just don't care. It's not news anymore. Not that it ever really was.

"Does anyone know the couple? ie are they real or was the profile made up to then create the story? (If that makes sense)"
That could so easily be done, as we all know!
This is why I would never, EVER buy a tabloid, even if I had run out of toilet paper, - I'd rather go out & buy a bidet!! |

So is the next expose going to be a single mum on plenty of fish?
What is the legal premise for this?
They are not famous so no public interest claim.
What did they do to deserve this exposure.
Blurred pics spread nationally did they give permission for republication?

for a start, legally if you put something in the public domain it is open to fair use. The dumb ass legal warning that people copy n paste offers no protection in law. If you want to spend 10's of thousands on a legal team for a case that you cant win, go ahead. I would imagine that the journalist, ahem, created the jim jane profile themselves and used a photo from their stock. The whole article is i imagine a fiction. face pic tuesday anyone |

I'm pretty sure a married CEO of the paper having an affair with his single mum employee would get more attention from the public if I let that out into the public domain. He has much more to lose than I do if they come after me. So come on - take your best shot. What's good for the goose... |

Fab is not in the public domain it is a private members forum.
the Star should have obtained consent to publish the pictures sent to the journalist.
The data protection act protects the pictures and the couples privacy in such cases.
There have been cases of papers losing when they have photographed people in the street entering gyms etc. as it is a breach of their rights.
If the couple are still on Fab perhaps they might comment on whether they gave consent to publish or not, I suspect they did. |

It once again proves that the titillation of the frustrated vanilla world is needed to sell scandal rags.
This journalistic slime is to provide vicarious exitement for those poor individuals who are so indoctrinated with sexually repressive thoughts that they need to read about other peoples sex lives to get a semi-hardon.
The paper needs to balance this article now with one about how a couple have not had sex for 14 years and how the wife has never experienced sexual pleasure. |

as far as i am aware fab is not a private members forum. Non users are able to view the site and profiles.
It is not against the law to take photographs of people in a public space.unless of course you are harrassing them or shoving a camera into their face or stopping them from going about their business. |

About 4 years ago a new club opened up near spaghetti junction, was on the industrial side of the road backing on to the Bham_Fazeley canal in the shadows of the M6 motorway, one evening some "Newbies" turned up and were mingling chatting to the others there and on sunday the local paper had an "Expose" of a swingers club which had not inteferred with locals living on the other side of the road at all as there was a barrier running down the centre of the road leading cars to the flyover of the M6 & spaghetti junction so no cars were annoyingly parked there but well clear,no one had known it was a swingers club in the previous 12 months it had been there!.
The club then moved to another part of town. |

Yeah I might get a meet.
If you're worried about being outed you probably shouldn't be on here, because if you think you're doing something wrong, then it's obvious others will too.
Plus who gives a shit if you are a swinger?
"oh but I could lose my job and reputation "
shut up (not you personally) you ain't that important. No one cares.

People have been outed and have lost jobs, family and friends. If you have none of those then that's such a shame. |

I'm suggesting for their next article they talk about the moral depravity of porn... followed by a nice gallery of porn photos just to illustrate the point.

It certainly makes it clearer how the debauchery... the depravity... is the journalist's doing. And, in that sense, the terrorism being advertised by tabloids is often their doing too.
Back in the 80's the government banned the IRA from being in the news because they recognised how the media was giving them oxygen. We could do with some enlightened thinking like that again.
Terrorists just kill a few people... it's the media who terrorise entire populations |

Agreed. 24hr news channels ramp it up too. A bit like the 7/7 coverage last week. All for memorials etc but that was relentless, non stop, as if it had just happened.
