Protestors hold Heathrow to a stand still earlier, 13 flights cancelled.

Do you recon they should have better security?. It was shut for 3hrs.

Would have been better if they had decided to do a lock on in Terminal Five giving them the publicity and less impactive on the people.

Could have a nice camp out on the roundabout and remain in the public eye for the foreseeable. But no lets do the first thing that comes into their head.

Bit like Greenpeace fucking up in Peru.

Five minutes of fame that will in the grand scheme of things get nowhere and even alienate support.

These guys need to fix up their business strategy. They learn a lot from the corporate world

Thirteen flights in 3 hours?

Make no wonder they need another runway.

Seems to me if all those people who objected to the runway actually stopped flying themselves maybe the problem would go away?

Not really, they got alot of extra measures that weren't originally proposed, and its the knock on effect..

How many other bypasses got delayed or cancelled because of it?.

Think of every single environmental policy you have today as the end product of campaigners...

Without women campaigners they probably wouldn't have the vote today.

Without homosexual campaigners, it would probably still be illegal today.

The evolution of society comes from its ability to campaign for or against!

Hey I'm all for it looking at the tactics of the above they differ. Perhaps that's why they did so well.

Fluctuations in the amount of insolation (incoming solar radiation) are the most likely cause of large-scale changes in Earth's climate during the Quaternary. In other words, variations in the intensity and timing of heat from the sun are the most likely cause of the glacial/interglacial cycles.

That's sciences best conclusion from the evidence available...

The recent talk of a Maunder Minimum by 2030 is a bit misleading, a lack of sunspot activity would only reduce incoming energy by 0.01%.

There is something about a 26,000 year cycle of "tilt/orbit" away from the sum. This makes sense in that 10,000 years ago we had an ice age, 3,000 years before it begins to tilt back. 16,000 to the next ice age, Sounds plausible.

If we can get that incoming/outgoing radiation from the sun creates climate change, and we can prove that the incoming /outgoing radiation is driven by certain gases, C02, methane, water vapour.... And then you look at c02 being a trace gas in the atmosphere (meaning there's only tiny amounts of it) and its still creating climate change along with the other drivers.... Then really the science isn't that hard to grasp and we know were putting out huge amounts of it, that's adding to that trace amount easily.

The main bit is that people just don't like change...

I like to think of it more like this, years ago before those campaigners campaigned for women's rights or homosexual's rights or coloured peoples rights... The majority of people actually thought all those things were good ideas... It was only the minority campaigning that forced the majority to evaluate their thinking.

You might think that man made climate change is nonsense and ridiculous but im pretty sure your kids and grand kids will look at you with disgust in the near future.....

Even the Nazi concentration camp guards thought they were doing the right thing till somebody pointed out that what they were doing is just plain wrong! And even then some still thought it was liberal nonsense and it was still for the best?

Society evolves from the minority, always has and always will

I'm pretty certain that my kids, certainly the eldest has a carbon footprint much bigger than mine and no way will they give it up. Without intervention, it will only get worse.

At least in my day, my efforts have led to lasting tangible assets.

Isn't there increasing concern as to the energy required to simply run and store social media? What lasting use is most of that?
