Well done. Never been a distance runner, was always a sprinter, 200 metres.

Congrats it's a nice feeling when, a goal is achieved.

They're addictive

You'll be signing up for lots more now

I regularly run 4 or 5 10ks a year along with the Chester half marathon.

Signed up for the Metric Marathon in September

Just started this week on C25K with the aim to hit 10Ks and eventually half marathons. Tons of respect for anyone who runs.

We both run the Hell Run at Longmoor in January.

It's about 12 miles of frozen cross country with a short swim.

Have lost count of how many halves I've done - by far my favourite distance, long enough to be a challenge, short enough that the training doesnlt take over my life and they don't leave me destroyed for days afterwards. Completed 2 full marathons and training for my first trail marathon in September. Possibly doing my first ultra (50km) in December torn between doing the Portsmouth Coastal marathon again (it was my frst one last December) or having a go at the inaugral ultra that they are promoting alongside it.

Considering how little I cycle these days and how much I run, the name 2wheels probably is no longer that apt!

I don't think my 40 yr old legs could take any longer than a half marathon, having all sorts of problems at the minute. ITB problems on one leg and knee pain on the other, I think my hip flexors need some strength.

Then you need to take a step back (no pun intended) and sort those out, they will only get worse

Yep I had all sorts of problems last year, plantar fasciatis and twisted ankles, so I missed nearly all of my races last year, and this year is one of recovery

Literally small steps

Quite literally just back in from a run. On here whilst I cool down so I can jump in shower.

Bloody love it. Trail running is my favourite. Been out of action with a thigh injury then chest infection so nice to get out this evening.

Actually may do a quick wow or lout before shower then a cider to relax with

Rach x

Hi guys. I'm new to doing any kind of training. Last week I climbed ben nevis. It's a right hard slog and lots of fun. Many don't make it, I actually worked up to it by doing a load of walking for months before however nothing prepared. Me for the sheer leg and knee bashing I had to endure.now I've done it I'm going to do scafell pike and the Snowden. This is known as the 3 peaks challenge and is classed as one of the hardest endurance challenges you can do in the uk.people do the 3 peaks challenge in 24 hours many many fail. Others do it over 2 or 3 days. There really is not a set challenge thing it's a personal thing. So after I've done the 3 peaks I'm going to attempted the 3 peaks in a set time period as will be familiar with the mountains which makes things a lot easier obviously.

Just an idea for all you guys looking for a challenge, personally I would find marathons a bit boring.cross country running I loved years ago I'm 43. So think I'm going to get into this more as well as munro bagging

I'm going to petition my local authorities to set one up.

It's not your local authorities that run Parkruns, it's volunteers like you. If you want to set one up then you can just do that.

Gout in my left foot and four operations on my shins with another coming up in August have put paid to any running aspirations so it's going to have to be cycling from now on.

Shame as I always felt more of a sense of accomplishment after finishing a run.

I know, but I don't have the organisational skills or wherewithal to do so

There's also logistics of getting permission to run an event in a public park etc.

It would be easier for the UA to do do, and also help them to meet their targets for activity and fitness

takes a lot of initial funding for the set up and there are lots of things that need to be in place. i know my running club looked into it for a while and had to source funding from the local council etc to help set it up but there is nothing stopping an enthusiatic bunch of people doing it.

I am just looking into a similar set up for kids and you need to raise £1600 initially for the set up but to run it over 4 years costs £6000. Some of it is match funding by the partners of the charity but its not as simple as just saying 'i would like one.

Plus you have to get that base of volunteers to make it run. Evesham parkrun struggles at times with this as it is still in its infancy.

Go to a nearby parkrun and speak to those who set it up, use their knowledge and create links with them. They are a great source of information and support.

I've done loads of 10k's and have started to do more half marathons in preparation for doing my first marathon next year. Managed to break 19 minutes recently for a 5k for the first time since school, and hoping i can break 40 minutes for a 10k soon.

I was reding through the local 10k results yesterday and over 100 people can run 10k faster than i run 5!!

Cambridge Lutonand St Albans, non of which are overly practical to get to. It's quicker and easier to do London to do one there!
