Ok so there's a few people on here who know there stuff about cars so thought I'd ask.

Been and bought a 1993 R33 skyline 2.5 turbo - it's in rough shape and needs fixing up...a project

The guy who owned it bought it as the same project but has got other things going on and needed this car gone.

It came to him off a private plate so doesn't have the original number plate or a logbook - have looked at the VIN plate but none of the online vin checkers recognise it....it's not the normal 17 digit code because it's a Japanese import.

Everything else on the vin checks out e.g colour, chassis number matches the one on the car and paint code etc.

So is there any direct way to find out the original reg plate ?? Tried the wisdom of Google and I'm struggling.

Broken down that's what I was expecting.

When it happens it will go to a good home.

.....A piece of metal propping up some building in China.

A skyline however ... thats pretty cool.

Did the previous owner import it? It may have had to go through an sva test to be registered in U.k. did it come with any of the import papers.

As it stands it's got nothing....it's a coin flip at the moment.

The engine that comes with it needs a rebuild, but my brother who's in on this with me, has another R33 which has a perfect engine but the car is written off and is being broken of parts. I'm gonna get back in touch with the guy for more info as it's not being picked up for a couple of weeks.

paid peanuts for it too

Forgot to mention above if we can't sort the papers etc

It will be built into a track car or broken into parts.

The interior has been custom re upholstered and could probably sell it for more than we paid for the car

It's a win-win which ever way we go about it.....going to make a few phone calls tomorrow - DVLA site wasn't much use.

The original registration number will still be reserved for the car - should any owner wish to sell the private reg. My first port of call would be DVLA

on the road to nowhere in particular

If it had a plate it will be registered with dvla. Unless of course the seller is telling you porkies.
