"30 minute meals ...they look very apertising cheap and easy to throw together .. almost too good to be true ...anyone tried them and had good results ?"
I haven't seen it for years but you could always add at least £10 to every meal for the amount of extra virgin olive oil and extras he used. |

"did you not have you kettle boiled granny ??"
Have the kettle ready ? The recipes jamie uses call for all your equipment to be ready and ingredients before starting anything else.
They are NOT 30 min recipes. |

Jamie Oliver has always got right on my tits...am I the only one? Personally, apart from the 'holier than thou' pedestal that he permanently seems to perch his arse on, its also the fact that he always speaks as if his tongue is somehow too big for his mouth... |

He suffers with ADHD and other learning difficulties I think his speech steams from that. |

Part of who he is I suppose I quite like him but he is not everyone's cup of tea I think he has done a lot to bring certain topic into the media some worthwhile causes. |

I think he may have been born with a cleft palate too.
I like his enthusiasm and don't think he's holier than thou the crap some people feed their kids is unreal!
I'm shocked at how few cooking skills and confidence a lot of people 5+ years younger than me are. It's a shame. Soup, roasts, stews/casseroles, even stir Fry's, pasta dishes are so easy to do pretty much from scratch even sauces (shock horror) and a lot cheaper and healthier too (says I as a fatty, I eat good food just too much of it )
I know of one family who literally only eat ready meals and takeaways. The salt alone they are consuming is frightening.

Agree, cooking isn't difficult, basic food can be made really tasty with just a few skills x |

I started out as a waitress and picked up some tips but mostly it came from my mum teaching me (not being afraid to let us use knives, hot water, cooker etc as a lot of parents now seem to be. In other countries there can be 5 year olds preparing the main daily meal we're too risk averse here).
She cooks without recipes. She judges amounts by eye, smell and taste. Did loads of baking with us as kids. Not so much now she's older n just her and dad. |

"Marguerite Patten - Cooking Today in Colour. The only cook book you'll ever need.
Not that I cook. My meals are generally 2 minutes: I get a call and go and eat. "
Chirst Lickety,
I own that book and I bought it for my daughter from Amazon a few weeks before she died.
Marguerite that is .... not my daughter. |

I bought it in a remainder shop in 1982 after my parents threw me out. Other people have bought me cook books as presents but Marguerite Patten covers everything. She was an inspiration and never got all poncy, always calling herself a home economist.
Woman's Hour replayed the interview they did with her a couple of years ago - fantastic! |

If you prep everything, boil the kettle, then start the stop watch once everything is chopped and prepared then 'yes' its 30 minute meals |

I've cooked a fair few of them over the years. If you can cook efficiently, they are 30minute meals.
If you're a beginner they'll take longer - like any new hobby. |

Don't care - he's a total creep.
Should be publicly hanged in Wembley Stadium as a warning to others. |

I take it you burnt your favourite saucepan trying to cook something in 30 minutes? |
