I've just been informed that my photos wr stolen and put on a adult website this was done 15 hours ago and they r all from my fab profile, so clearly not taken from Facebook etc. I have the "uploadeders" name from the adult Web site and sent them an e mail though their customer service department. Just want some advice really r is the basically what u run the risk of if u have profile or indeed any social network account?

No photo on the internet is safe. Act on the basis that it WILL be stolen and misused at some stage.

I think most people like to see a face when they are chatting to someone - but you have to decide whether you want your face to appear in photos you upload here.

Appearing on cam isn't 'safe' either.

It's all about assessing and deciding what level of 'risk' you are prepared to accept.

Brighton - even Hove!

Assume that anything you put on the Internet or send digitally, is in the public domain for ever.

kent ( by the seaside )

This is quite a regular thing sadly, if you don't want your pictures to appear anywhere else on the net, then don't upload any on here (or other sites)

If you are going to put pictures up, place your fab name over it and also insert a watermark and a copyright in the corner.

Hope you get them taken down.

Send a message to admin as they may see who's seen your pics.

Lucky that you've spotted this quickly. As others say, we have virtually no protection once our pics are in the public domain.

annoying if that's not what you anticipated when you posted them but imitation is the best form of flattery allegedly..

Inform the police as this kind of activity is now illegal.

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

Have you checked the info on FAQs?

Why don't you right-click protect our photos to stop others stealing / saving them?

We believe in being straighforward with the members of Fab. Right click protect doesn't work and gives a false sense of security by pretending to "protect" images. Other sites may pretend they've protected your images but actually they're being dishonest by claiming that.

Right click "protect" can be gotten around in under 2 seconds by any of the following methods:

Simplest: Goto File menu, Save As, and save to desktop = The photos will be in a folder on your desktop that your browser has created.

OR... Disable JavaScript by going to Tools menu, choose Internet Options, Click the Security tab, click Custom Level, scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list and click Disable. Right click can now be used to save images.

OR... Press print screen and the image + page will be copied to clipboard where it can be pasted into a graphics program for resize or save.

We give you three privacy options on your photos and we now hide images from anyone who isn't a member of Fab. If you are worried about someone stealing your photos you may want to set them to be viewable only by your friends, or private in which case you can send by private mail.

We also now watermark all photos upon upload.

"Inform the police as this kind of activity is now illegal."

it will give them a chuckle and a bit of a mmm moment but they don't really have the resources to chase down someone who used someone else's publicly available photograph which the 'owner' of the photograph put willingly on a website..

A lack of resources does not make an action less upsetting and or illegal?

We were told some of our pics were seen on another website. We could not find them but found others that we know on fab so we are more cautious who we accept friend requests off as they were friend only face pics but we also now try to watermark our pics to deter it happening again lol

Were they public or private?

If friends only it may narrow down the list of suspects - depending on who's in your friends list.

It's a reason many don't add all and sundry just to see pics.

Ha ha Tin Eye, by now they must have a much larger collection of illicitly gained photos than even Sydney University.

Are they any more secure?

I agree that we all have to be careful about pics...though any that I have to send out wouldn't interest many...

Hope you get it sorted and are able to relax again

Usually contacting other website saying copyright infringement and as subject/photographer you did not authorise use of the media.

As for illegal, don't believe so. New law was about revenge porn and as you put pictures online it is not revenge porn just a civil copyright thing.

If other people used the pictures in a name and shame manner then it would fall under new law I believe.
