I just phoned a restaurant to make a booking tonight and everything from this youthful sprog was "yes mate, no mate, thanks mate" etc.
Are people taught how to have a phone conversation today ?
And more importantly is that how you speak to a customer?
Or am I being an old pedant ?  |

If it's a posh resturaunt, I'd be surprised if staff were allowed to speak that way to customers...
Our local Indian takeaway calls everyone either "Boss" or "Queen" but I don't think I'd expect it from a resturaunt. |

One of my pet hates too, I had this in the bar of a 5 star hotel and told the young man in question in no uncertain terms. It's disrespectful!  |

Well it's a popular, large chain restaurant, they're supposed to be a bit cheeky
