I can never get my head round why people steal

Do they not feel guilty after doing so?

Do they not think about consequences?

What the thing there stealing may mean to someone?

Some very selfish people in the world me thinks

I went to an swinging party back in February.

My mobile was stolen out of my bag,

I really don't know what they achieved the phone was old but I lost some pictures that I will never be able to replace. I suppose my own fault for not backing them up.

I hate theives

I've had a few bikes pinched while working

I do community nursing and as I don't drive I cycle round my calls

last bike I had stolen was on a guys back garden I had gone into, it was a really secluded cul de sac and there was no way somebody had walked by and seen it, firstly cause his is the last house and secondly it was on the back garden so whoever had taken it had been watching me, obviously seen me on it and followed me, waited till I had gone in and taken it

so if they had been watching me they must have known what I was doing

I just think to steel from somebody who's going round home helping people thus preventing them from doing their job it's quite low

Are you talking about junkies from Primark or the feckless bankers, hmmm?

Or maybe that bunch of medieval thugs who used to terrorise the peasantry and who's decendants sit the the House of Lords...

I fear you may need to be a bit more specific, OP.

I work in a pharmacy, my experience is of desperate addicts looking for something to sell for a quick fix. They presume we have insurance, which we do, but any loss of stock affects our figures and it's the staff that lose out.

In the middle of the night our catalic converter was stolen off of our car, this I know is only something really silly but in turn has cost us around £300 (losing 3 days work and cost of repair)

Besides about £20 at a scrap yard what the bloody hell will they get out of it

They might be freegans. Some people want everything for nothing and as long as they have it they don't care about the person they stole it from. Some are simply kleptomaniacs.

Im not proud of this but as a teenager i stole from my parents and some shops

My parents were very well off but due to strictness i wasn't alowed the things my piers had so I stole money to look better then what I perceived myself to be

Although my mother is still strick and can rule my life if I let her I now as an adult know that this was no excuse to steal

Never? Can't believe that!

Human beings are vile, most don't care for anyone but themselves.

I think the last thing I shoplifted was a newspaper - I was shocked at the prices of the goods I bought so helped myself to a 5-finger discount on the way out.

I have no morals.

No, humans are not vile. The majority of people don't steal or do anything except try to get along.

The land of grey peas and bacon

Some steal out of desperation some steal under duress or are forced into it and some do it for no reason, some do it for the fame. I guess we have to see the bigger picture at times.

The Town by The Cross

Depends what you mean by theft and what the circumstances are.

1. parking at a supermarket without paying.

2. Overstaying when parking.

3. Bunking in the cinema

4. Hopping on n off a bus or train without paying.

5. Noticing somethings been left of your restaurant bill

6. Not paying your rent and flitting.

7. Not paying your gas or leccy and flitting.

8. Finding treasure trove and keeping it.

9. Not paying your tax

10. Keeping the change that a supermarket gives you

11. Swapping price labels in the supermarket.

.........

there's probably more that get done by lots of people every day who think it's okay .

12 Hotel stuff ... etc

The motivation is broad I'm sure. To hurt others, deprive them and take what the taker thinks should be stuff they think they ought to have, on and on.

Insecurity drives a lot of it, where it's not driven from desperation/poverty.

At Tesco I used the self service counter and the pervious customer forgot to take is change, so stupid of me I put the £5 in my pocket. He came back looking for his money I was to embarrassed to give it to him as I already put in my pocket. Till this day I feel really bad I did give £20 towards charity the next day. I still feel bad, I am not sure how people live with themselves who take more then a £5.

Learn to gauge your feelings better

You felt fear at almost being caught.

Conscience would have stopped you taking it.

Most just do it because it's easier than working regular hours.

I think it's down to oppurtunities in life, addiction, greed or just to get a buzz!

Everyone's first thought are people that are down and out, or perhaps on drugs, but let's not forget some of the biggest thieves wear a suit and tie.

Insider trading, rate fixing etc. Those doing it usual earn hundreds of thousands off the bat, but want more more more!

Some people are just greedy.
