Why can't they make standard remote controls for bloody tellys?

Every frickin telly remote in this house is different.... and I end up looking like a right spanner when I can't find the friggin button I want.

Examples:

3 telly boxes with built in dvd player... two have an eject button on the remote... one doesn't! That's the one in the spare room... where I sometimes entertain.... and look like a spanner!

4 telly boxes have have TV guide buttons.... one doesn't, because that telly tells you what's on now and next when you change channels. That's the one in the kitchen.

Workroom telly has the red, green, yellow, blue buttons at the top of the remote... others they are at or near the bottom.

Some have volume on the left and programme on the right... some it's the other way around.

You may not think this worth a rant... but I find it feckin annoying!

You can get a universal one that will control most on your things with one handset if you look around.

Which means I'd need to buy 5 of them and hope they have full functionality....... I just want them to make standard ones to start with.

I may write to my MP.

My 12 year old is the guardian of the remote's and can have everything up and running in seconds, hasn't been the once I've waited for him returning from school to help sort telly/sky/dvd/video/stereo out for me.

Polo, has it never occured to you to put each remote on top of or next to it's correct appliance when you switch the TV off? This way each TV is accompanied by the correct remote. It may also be a good policy to place the instruction manual for each TV near it's correct appliance too.

It would be even better policy to read said manual, several times, daily... unless you're a man of course, in which case no manual is needed as he'd have bought all the TVs from the same manufacturer and all the remotes for them would have been exactly the same and he'd have reprogrammed them so that any of them could operate any TV in the house which means he'd have four spare ones.

I love being a man, although sometimes I wish I had tits.
