"why is having a group of friends deemed as such a bad thing? "

I think it's the idea that you're ignored unless you are part of "the group".

I do see a lot of that going on.

But it's like getting messages from single guys - I'm not going to meet all of them because it'd take all day.

Same as no one is going to reply to every post on the forum as it would take all day.

Hi!

I chat to people i like, I find funny or I fancy. I struggle to stop myself taking the piss out of people who are rude, self-important morons.

The normal nice people in the middle who don't interest, excite or annoy me are not people i often have a reason to converse with.

If others do the same is that a clique or a common interest and a similar point of _iew?

Morning all! I often post on threads, of which about 90% are ignored however I don't think it's clique(y) as I've probably not said anything response worthy.

I also don't lose a seconds sleep over it... I do think too many people get worried about the "online" world. So I'll continue to post my drivel anyway.

I also see people saying a clique of the same people jump on certain posts to have a go. They're just people who like having a go. Some do it more succinctly than others.

A clique is a group of friends who do not readily allow other people to join them or are unkind to and dislike other people, so maybe its not such a good thing?

Morning!

I regularly post what I like, when I like and if it gets ignored (as it regularly does) then I like to think it's because I have put my point over so well that no-one can add to it or disagree. This may also be down to me being a resilient stubborn little bugger who doesn't mind living in her own little fab bubble.

Technically, if there's a common group with similar ideals that converse with each other (the "interesting" / "exciting" people) but ignore the 'inbetweeners' then yes, that is a clique

A definition of a clique is a group of friends that converse with each and exclude others. So what you have described is a clique!

I just post away & don't worry about it ~ having a quick look now there's quite a few threads where I've been ignored & one where I was in the minority with my thoughts but it doesn't matter.

The people who spend the most time on here will get to know each other and therefore interact more.

Nothing more than that imo.

It's not, but as in real life if you pre-judge others based on hearsay, exclude them from the conversation, and mock people in little private jokes them most switched on people will just think your being dicks.

I'm willing to give anyone my time until they say something that passes me off. That's most people. I guess I'm fussy lol maybe I'm in my own clique.

"This whole clique things getting very old and very boring

.

But, to be fair, the whole forum recycles itself regularly not just the clique thing.

Whether it's kiss, fuck, pass threads, which Forumite threads, cock size, bbws, bareback, cliques, nocturnal roll calls, jokes, Face pic Friday etc etc

You could argue the whole forum is getting boring now if the suggestion is that old and repeated threads are boring

It might be a little like that however I've met some lovely people via the forums and its a nice way to introduce yourself... Much easier and less in your face than a "cold call" message.

If you ignored then move on, you were never going to meet so have missed out on nothing and one less profile to worry about

maybe new posters are just paranoid,

maybe people who have been around longer are just less tollerant of the same shit thats posted and have decided to grow a backbone and no longer sit on the fence

maybe if people made more of an effort to interact with others things might not seam so bad

maybe people just dont give a fuck and are being blunt

maybe there are the brown nosing arse lickers who will stick up for anything with a pulse in order to get a shag

maybe there are genuinely (fucking LOVE that word) nice people on here who attempt to smooth over conflict and drama

end of the day people will stick with who they like,, if we all had the same _iew points the forums would be a shockingly shit place to visit

signed *been around long enough to be over this whole forum clique bollocks*

I've been using forums and other "group" chat systems for about 20 years and Fab forums are about normal imo.

The thing that separates Fab from the others is the disparity in social skills of the members. For example, on a gaming forum, most if not all members may come from a similar demographic group so they are able to connect on a deep social level. Mumsnet members also have an obvious common bond.

Here, you have a more diverse range of members. It's also painfully obvious to see that some members struggle in the real world (and here) to connect with others and some are social butterflies.

Yes there are cliques here, just as there are in meatspace. I went to a social for the first time ever last week and there were at least three different groups chatting and laughing away nicely with little hope of me joining in.

Then I met another first timer and we formed our own clique!

"...makes a difference...

With replies it would make difference is posters used the quote feature and edited down to the part of the quote they were replying to.

Once along quote is reposted or just the reply the post becomes a fragment easily and so conversational replies get lost.
