En route home today from Bristol i had 3 hours to kill so i chose to do this by listening to Radio 2 - just at the time they started talking about internet forums
Did you know that there is a term for a person who sits in the forums stirring debate and discourse solely for the pleasure of being able to wind people up!!!
apparently these people are called Trolls and the best advice given was not to Feed them - ie dont respond to their antics
some IT sites now employ people who monitor Troll activity and clear the sites of them if they cause emotional damage to the site or brand
well i never
fancy that |

I knew that from a social network site i was on, in fact there were 2 gangs, as i saw it; the victims and the bullies, was not the best place to be when they started hurling abuse at each other over the shout facility which they had on this site not a nice welcome to newbies either |

Yep another (non-swinging) site I'm on has an oxygen thief tag - if someone deliberately causes trouble or starts fake threads to cause a ruckus, they get tagged and all posts are hidden to other users so no one can reply. They soon get bored |

It must have been well over 8 years ago I first read the comment "don't feed the trolls".... a certain other swinging site use to get proper trolls (on here we just seem to get stupid people). Every so often someone new would pop up and post something like "swingers can't really love their partners otherwise they wouldn't swing" or something about single on swinging sites being on there out of desperation... that sort of thing. Usually tucked away in the middle of a longer post... just to see how many people picked up on it and bit. |

"Somebody mention me?.
hello sexy, nice to see you back as its been quiet on the forums "
That's two things in one I'm not used to, being named sexy and it being quiet on these forums. |

This might be famous last words....
But the forums on Fab are much much better than those on some other Swinging Sites which are ridden with trolls, and are ruined by a tiny clique of people who only want to bully and insult other people. |

the guy being interviewed had a point
he said all internet users to some degree or other evaded personal responsibility as
it is easer to not hold back when you had limited accountability
he also talked about cyber bullying and fake profiles
on fab there are some degrees of monitoring and admission policy's and i think from what they were saying our site is better than most
but the cool thing is that now i have a word for it

The other thing that works in favour of this site is that the object of the exercise IS to meet each other, which means the accountability becomes a little less limited. |

god yes i know exactly what you mean in this respect - the reason I left the last swinging site I was on - no sorry thats incorrect, I was actually banned from it cos I wouldnt take the shit they dolled out. It was a group of females - unfortunately they were moderators lol but they were bullying gits and disagreed with absolutely everything I said, you know the type, they'd argue black was white if id said it.
I like fab because its a huge site and everyone gives their views, sometimes it gets contentious and we all have probably upset someone but in the majority of cases its never personal and i enjoy the different viewpoints, it makes for great discussion.
There are some people who are all brave behind a keyboard and then you meet them on a social and they wouldnt say boo to you. I dislike those type of people.
I think these forums and the people on them are absolutely brill |
