When do you put your decorations up and what kind of decs do you have.
I cant stand it when I see decorations put up in houses in November, I could never do it. Though I myself dont wait that long and always put them up on the first Sunday in December.
I dont have loads of decorations, I do like a huge tree. I have an 8ft tree which sits in my bay window of my lounge and I have icicle lights on the porch, little Father Christmas's lights going up the drive and a silver twig with lights around it which sits in my lounge, oh and a little tree in my kitchen. I never bother with ceiling decorations. |

First weekend in December, although as this year, we will be at the nephews 2nd birthday, it'll have to be the weekend after.
I have as big a tree as will fit in the living room (real) and ceiling decs. Tinsel and lights around the fireplace which look great with a real fire. The hallway has tinsel round the mirror and the dining room has a 6ft black tree with old fashioned wooden toy type decorations and white led's.
I LOVE Christmas - can you tell?

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack! |
Always have a real tree which sits in a large pot outside for the rest of the year.Apart from a few lights in the window and the tree decs, there isn`t much else inside. Outside I have a string of icicle lights on the house gutter, a string of John Deere tractor lights on the shed gutter. The final stuff outside is an air-blown robin that`s about 4 foot tall and an 8 foot tall father/son polar bear air-blown that sits on the top of the garage!
They don`t go up until a week before Xmas though. |

Have given up putting them up at all- the new dog kept peeing on the tree (am never getting a boy dog again!), the rottie kept stealing the baubles and the cats shred any spangly bit of tinsel/glitter and spread it round the house daily.....the last hoover died a horrible death |

We usually put ours up about 10 days before Christmas.
A nice tree in the house with some autumn fruits (Cones, Acorns, leaves etc), tastefull lights on a few of the trees in the garden. This year we've invested in a 3d illuminated deer who will be placed beside our garden pond.
Not too far away we have some houses who put up their decs about now, they are cheap nasty, tacky flashing and banging bling piles of shite probably consuming enough current to bring the National Grid to it's knees.
Funnily enough, some of the folks are dole wallers ... we know that to be true because sadly they are known to us personally. The question we have to ask - how can they afford to do this o dole money ? |

I always think how sad it is to see Christmas lights up too early! Even the beginning of December is too early! Supposed the be the twelve days not the four weeks!!
I remember when we were kids, most folk used to put up their decorations and trees around a week before Christmas day and that was great for us kids. It heralded the season in and we never became bored with all the lights and stuff. Unlike some kids today who seem to take no notice once they been up for a couple of weeks..
And what the fuck is it with Morrisons and Pringles? Full blown Christmas ads on the 6th of November? (for some reason, the Marks and Spencer one is ok! ) |

i love, love, love Christmas alrhough I hate tacky decs.
Since a cat vs baubles issue last year i'll just be using my small black and silver tree (on a table) with a few silver decs.
Cards are usually displayed on those sticky strip things up the open plan staircase bannister and I have a gorgeous 'mantle' garland that I have running along the bottom of the TV.
will probably sort them out in mid December this year. |

A week before christmas and a week after christmas then my tree is down again.
A few tasteful decorations on the tree and some festive candles are enough for me, it's for my youngest and my grandson that I really do all this for.
I'm passed doing the big dinner for the whole family thing too.... No2 son my daughter and my grandson and I are going to Edinburgh Zoo for christmas day and dinner at the lodge nearby. xxx |

That's about the same as me. A artificial tree with fibreoptics mean it doesn't take a lot of decorating and they look nice. |

ohhhhhhh love christmas!
from the time when my kids were about 12 we have always had christmas early so they are not torn about leaving their dad on his own on christmas day
so i guess i have always gone over the top
this year the trees are being delivered on 30th nov - so thats when it all starts!
10ft one in the dining room and 14ft in the lounge
i make pine tree and ivy decorations from bits i have taken in the local woods and these are made into garlands i drape the lounge
there is always a colour scheme - dinner is a dressed event - black tie - and there are parlour games and singing round the piano - oh and we have a photographer for the family photos etc
presents now are small gifts given at the end of the meal - last year these were hung on the tree in the dining room and looked really pretty -
most of the family are grown now so they come with their partners and the local hotel plays host
i always rehearse the dinner by cooking it weeks before just to make sure i know what im doing - only because we never have turkey - they have that with their dad - and i can change anything then if its not quite right
i know i know and before you all start I know its way over the top but its my present to my self and its normally the only time of the year everyone is together |

I put my christmas tree up two weeks before. Last year I didnt bother with a tree or decorations for one reason and another so this year looking forward to it. Christmas is special to me as that is the day I had my only child, my daughter. So unlucky for her its her Birthday and Christmas rolled into one.
For a long time everytime I have visited a country on holiday I have picked up a christmas tree ornament for myself, my sister, mum and best friend. Over the years my sister and my best friend have passed away, so not only do the ornaments have memories of the places I have been to but also memories of the people I have lost. S |
