I'm not so much a Trekkie. I liked a bit of Stargate for a while but preferred the film. And fancied the pants off the lead guy in Farscape, but could never really get into it.
But I loved True Blood, 4400, Heroes, Steven Spielburg's Taken, Fringe, X Files. Currently addicted to Humans. |

"Yes but I have to limit myself. If they're good the run for years and then they end and leave you bereft!"
Or you think they are great and they cut them short... That's worse x |

Ain't it just! You get invested in the characters and then you're left hanging mid story.
I needed another five episodes of Dead Like Me to wrap that one up for me.

I LOVE sci-fi books. Got a massage thing for anything Dan Abnett at the moment. Just finished Iain Banks - Against a Dark Background... Struggled to get through it, even on the second attempt, but love everything I've read by him. Anyone else read it? |

Really enjoyed the sarah conner chronicles, but i believe the monstrosity "terminator salvation" was responsible for getting it cancelled just as it was getting somewhere interesting. |

Let's see, I own a lightsaber (used for more than just cosplay before now), I dress up at conventions as a Jedi Knight to raise money for a children's hospice down this way, I'm stoked about the new Terminator film this year and next years more adult aimed (thinking along the lines of Transformers) Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, I think it's safe to say I am a massive nerd!

"Yep. Books as well as TV and movies.
Books were the way in for me. Ursula Le Guin started me on fantasy with the Wizard of Earthsea when I was 9 and then all the rest followed.
"
Wow that brings back memories. Wasn't it a series of books?
I also remember reading a lot of Robert Heinlein and loads of sci fi short stories as a teen. And Doug Adams and Pratchett of course.

Me too Some of my favourite movies are sci-fi... Starship Troopers, Total Recall, Edge Of Tommorrow, Surrogates, even cheesy old ones like They Live. I just love that mix of exploring dytopian or utopian futures and what philosophical problems they bring up... probably one of the most philosophical of genres imo.
As for Star Trek... I must confess its one of my weak spots, particularly TNG. Even though you realise after a while that its basically just a glorified manual for team management and popular psychology... yes it becomes tranparently obvious... but there's just something comfortably trashy about it that's like eating fish fingers with beans
I absolutely loved Heroes series 1... but was so utterly and completely disappointed in the finale, which should've kicked complete ass and ended in a resolution but instead was such a cop out in order to allow the second series to continue the story that I decided never to watch another tv series like it again lol |
