"Love Christmas, but hate the New Year, shame one has to follow the other and spoil it really."
Have to say I agree actually. It's an excuse for everyone to triple their prices and you feel pressured to have something amazing prepared. Pffff. |

"Not me as my son will be with he's mum and sad Bastard meal for one for me . "
Ditto X 2
Both my lads will be at their mums & my new found lady has 4 kids & she has her family round & even though she wants me there with her it's too soon for me to be a part other childrens life so very very frustrated & not looking forward to Christmas at all!

If the weather is good, as in calm and dry, then I'll go camping in a tent with the pooch in Dorset.
Done that last year over the New Year weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Can't wait! |

Christmas Day I like, I always spend it with my daughter (she lives with my ex-wife), even though she doesn't believe in santa I still get a warm feeling from her smile as she opens her presents....then my bank balance kicks in, smile is gone .
I hate the lead up and definatly put my bah humbug hat on thanks to shops playing xmas songs from november (amongst other things) |

Love Christmas - im essentially quite childlike at times, I still get excited when I wake up on Christmas morning.
Ive always loved the build up, the decorations, the christmas parties, wrapping presents etc etc.
I can never sleep on christmas eve. Its not just cos im excited (kid that I am) but my brother was burgled on christmas eve once and all his presents taken, luckily it was before he had kids, but ive always been terrified of it happening to me. I put the kids presents under the tree in the lounge and as they have gotten older, the presents can be quite pricey cant they, mobiles, laptops, IPods etc etc. I dont know why i dont just lie next to my front door, like a draught excluder, and be done with it |

Do something character building instead. You have time to kill and it sure beats spending Xmas alone. Plenty of homeless people are taken care of at soup kitchens, hostels etc. Contact Shelter to see if they need any help over Xmas Eve/Day.
Put the time in solitude that has been forced on you one way or another to goos use and refuse to be beaten. It's not forever and those you help will thank you for it.
...or just get blotto on xmas Eve and wake up on Boxing Day lol. |

Another bah humbug here!
My parents are going to NZ for three months next week so I'll be on my own for Christmas this year. Not really that bothered either way but I decided that I'm going to go help out in a homeless shelter on Christmas this year and in fact you've spurred me on to investigate it today! |

I'm a bit confused this year, I've wrapped the fireworks, burnt the Halloween outfit and been knocking on random doors asking for Christmas presents.
We need a couple more months at the end of the year to spread it all out I reckon... |

since being here have always had a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit with no snow...and well, no family either...and the last 3 years I enjoy christmas eve and early morning with the kids, but then they go to their dad's so I am alone christmas...the first christmas after my ex left I forgot about the corner shop not being open here on christmas and I didn't have much food in the house so my christmas dinner was tuna and sweetcorn...lol |

I have in the past joined forces with someone on their own for xmas and they have stayed over etc.
Ive done all the cooking and they do the clearing up . lmao
Try and join forces with someone else. It makes the time go more quickly and who knows, you may even enjoy it. |

I used to love xmas. Was so organised and made the most of everything that comes with it. Now, since we have had to tighten our financial belts quite a bit for the past 3yrs, I find I am looking forward to January more and more!
I try to keep the xmas spirit but it does getter harder every year. I tend to put on an act really for the family but xmas isn't what it used to be and I think that doesn't help. |
