Have your own cage an wheel, with a Water bottle stuck in the side, you Would know what it felt like then to be A hamster.. haha.. at least it gives our furry friends a break.. surely to test new medicines there should be some Covering policy to ensure that you are Covered if things don,t go to plan and I Presume you get paid for testing the new Medicines ? I know I would,nt test them. |

you might get paid a small fee but if things go south you could then find yourself cast aside into the hands of the NHS to try sort it. Sad but true even for drug company staff, known people in that boat and it wasn't pleasant for them.
If you've a compelling reason to aid the research, as in family may be helped if successful then I could see why you would, but for other reasons I wouldn't, personally, for the first reasons given... |

its a guinea pig ive been asked to test a new medicine injected every two weeks but it could be a placebo and you don't get told which one you have had what about side effects as you cant just stop taking it if its an injection |

A massive If, but if i was suffering from a terminal illness then i definitely would. What could be the worst that happens? I'm surprised others don't.
Other than that no i wouldn't. Feel sorry for those who do it 'cos they need the money.

At some point someone has to do it or we'd never have any new drug treatments.
I would but they don't want me as I have too many risk factors. If they were to test a cure for Lupus I could qualify for that and I would sign up for the trial.

No drugs can be brought to market without substantial human testing.
I volunteered to test a heart drug as family history of heart problems...
Went for a full medical in Brum (free to me). Got rejected for being too fit lol..... |

I did a drug trial, didn't get paid for it though.
I did however have the most extreme set of side effects they'd ever encountered!  They had to take me off pronto but I still go for follow ups and am technically still part of the protocol so they can use my results.
It was a variation on a treatment I was receiving at the time and if it's successful it will be a major breakthrough in treating a very unpleasant disease. I was monitored very closely and they already knew what detrimental side effects it could have so sent me for regular screening for that issue. They just weren't expecting the side effects I did have which weren't on their list until me. 
This is why drugs need to be tested on humans and not just laboratory animals. They can predict many issues but not all. |

I've been part of a clinical trial a few years ago. For me it had a successful outcome. Would I again ? I have no idea, but I'm glad that I did it at the time.
