So, last night I was watching How To be Bohemian and Victoria started talking about hipsters.
Anyone actually like them?
Someone should tell them, if they want to stand out from the crowd, they should stop looking like the crowd. With their big bushy beards and skinny jeans. |

You'd have thought that a community of supposed broadminded, liberated and enlightened people would be more tolerant of other people's lifestyle choices wouldn't you. |

If I were new I'd probably think twice about hanging around given some people's bigotry. |

Saw one riding a penny farthing the other day. Never saw a chav do that!
To be honest they are a pretty harmless sub culture. Not like they are fighting on the beach at seaside resorts or doing doughnuts in a Tesco car park.
Not that you can do doughnuts on a penny farthing. |

Being a slave to fashion, has always made anyone look like a bell end. An unquestioning enslavement to fashion, is not a sense of style. Topknots are for women and Samurais. Western men DO look like a cunt with one. They might not be a cunt, but they are presenting themselves as one. It screams look at me, more tham a tshirt with neon flashing letters that spell out "look at me!" Having said that, all fashion is ridiculous. When it's examined closely. Fashion is not style, it never will be. |

"To me, they're the new chavs."
It does seem to take up the same place in society that "the casuals" had in the eighties.
All trying so hard to look a bit different, and in doing so, all look a bit "samey". |

It's not always about following fashion. Some people dress /look the way they do through choice and because that's just what they like, not because it's the current trend.
Alot of our friends don't have what you would call 'mainstream' looks but they have been that way for years, they will continue to be that way, long after any trend has finished. They couldn't give a shit, what's in fashion on trend or not.

My ego is healthy enough, for me not to have to jump on every passing bandwagon.

Do you know what we mean by "hipster'?
It one who, as Ray Davies puts it, is a dedicated follower of fashion. In matters of the cloth, he is as fickle as can be.
There is no substance or real care in their attitude to their appearance, other than being seen to being " on trend". Male Edina Monsoons.
An alternative look and outlook is all to the good. As long as you care about it. |

i dont have a horse in this race, but isnt it the other way around?
low self confidence leads to the attempt to make yourself more 'interesting' with fashion/tattoos etc.
or as my old pal said, its us ugly birds who have to try hard- the good looking ones dont need to. |

As I've stated, the need to be seen to be on trend is painful to watch. The attitude of I will wear what i please is much better and shows a confidence a herd follower hasnt got. |

not really the trends that are out now are actually really hard to pull off and you need alot of confidence to pull off !
As for tatts i get mine for ME .they portray alot that has gone on so far in my life
And are a visual expresion of who i am and my personality |

People judge other people.
It's how life is
Everyone does it.
Just because people don't like it, doesn't mean it'll stop.
I think people need to stop getting offended on other peoples behalf.
Just my thoughts. |
