the winner of the england/canada game will meet the winner of the australia vs japan/holland game in the semi final...

which mean they would have a fantastic chance to get to the final.....

Well done England last night and the Welsh coach, changed the team again and won.

However it was fucking shit and I thought Norway should of finished the game off first half, they didnt so can't have any complaints.

Other than Frank Irby's solo goal England just seem to play better when they lump it forward, but hey if it works, who cares.

half way thru quarter final 1... france vs germany (which is world ranked 3 vs world ranked 1)

been a fun game to watch so far.... france have completely dominated it.... nice to see germany on the back foot...

p.s the England vs Canada Quarter final has been confirmed it will be on BBC1 at midnight tomorrow (kick off 12.30am)

yes japan are the current world cup holders...

yes japan are quite good....

however... england actually beat them in the last world cup 2011 group stages.....

England wont be worried about playing either australia or japan in a potential semi final....

be interesting to see how england play tomorrow.. canada have looked really jittery playing in front of huge crowds all tournament (54,000 sell out tomorrow) and england actually thrived when playing in front of huge crowds at the olympics...

england are basically playing with house money....

Start a petition Licky to hold the penalty shoot out at the start, fresher legs, saves time and all that. I'd sign it for yer.

QPR had a plastic pitch for years in the top divisions of the English football league. It's the same for both teams in the game playing on the same surface so one side can't claim a disadvantage.

Fair play to England, apart from one bad mistake, they're playing really well & making their male counterparts look like, well, just wooses.

Also, when they score a goal they actually show their delight, unlike their male counterparts................... Sturridge comes to mind.

I stayed up and watched it again.

Again he tinkered and they won, well done.

again I thought it was shit but will watch Wednesdays game providing its not too late.

England first goal - Came from a Canada mistake.

Englands second goal - Came from a Canada mistake.

Canada's goal came from an England mistake.

Simple things like taking a throw in and it bounces off your team mates shin straight back out again.

Im enjoying the 'lets just get on with it' attitude, I think the quality is poor (in general).

Good luck England

To be fair I can't think of many goals scored where you couldn't say there was a mistake from the opposition somewhere if you were looking for it.

You didnt have to look for the mistakes in all three goals, they were blatant mistakes.

It happens all too frequent in the mens game too, but not as much at the highest level (which is what a WC is).

The 35 yarder in the last game was skill and so was FranK irby;s in the first game.

I think back to Englands first game vs France, they just kept giving the ball away.

They have improved since then and I wouldnt watch it if I didnt enjoy it.

I have been hugely impressed with the amount of effort shown, one example being the 'one up front' saturday night (Taylor).

She ran and ran all night always trying to available but stood little chance with 2 defenders on her straight away.

Of course the second goal was intended but it didnt come off the true spot on her forehead it looped, then the goalie flapped at it.

Im the same as anyone else behind England though, I'll take a win regardless of how the goals go in.

My point is, lets just calm down, I dont think its hardly setting the world alight/most of what I have seen I would compare to League 2/Conference.

I don't buy the paper/s but from what I have seen there hasnt been any Flags to print out and stick in the window. They should get behind the team more, Im glad many big names in the game have via twitter.

what people have got to realise is that the quality is at best poor up against mens football.

But in Womens terms they are the best around.

It needs the PC mob to stop making it out to be something its not.

Sit back and enjoy for what it is ,not what they are making it out to be.

"Saying the quality is poor because of mistakes is just wrong, speak to Alan Hansen and he will point out every mistake a defence makes even ones that don't result in a goal "

No its not.

For eg as I mention above.

This happened Saturday night:

England have a throw in, (in this case she didnt knick 20 yards), England player throws it in, team mate controls its with her shin and it goes straight out.

Thats a mistake. Thats poor quality. Please remember its is just an example.

The game and others have been littered with basic schoolboy/girl mistakes.

My only excuse I could give is the playing surface, its un natural and in consistent some of the time.

Yeah I do, that womans eye brows are a bit off putting but I like how they dont wear rose tinted glasses and are just honest.

I can't stand the commentator Sue Smith though, however, she's saying less and less as each game goes on which is good.

Apologies just thinking of the ultra example of a mistake finder

I do however agree that to a degree the standard is lower but that's logical considering there are fewer players in the woman's game as a whole it's similar to the American League where 'soccer' isn't the main sport so potentially talented players never try the game so never realise they are good and also since you only really improve by playing over and above yourself/being pushed I think some in the women's game haven't become as good as they could be
