Anxiety. I'm a big worrier and I can sometimes spiral into a a big "what if this happens, and then this happens, and then this..." and I get quite stressed about it. I'm a bit like this at the moment! So yes, if I could be a bit more laid back and easy going I would be. |

"If you could change one thing about your personality, what would it be?"
Probably my indecisiveness.
Or my shyness.
Or my anxiety.
But then should I worry about my inability to be serious?
Lol.
Or maybe my use of trendy teenage abbreviations, obvs.
No, definitely my indecisiveness.
Except.....
(continues ad infinitum)

The bit of shyness i have and me being reserved towards others. That and the preconceived judgement that people don't really like me.
However, once i get to know someone a little. The barriers come down. I'm just a bit too wary sometimes.

"The Tory Party, their MP's, & their mindset. I can't stand them. Usually I'm pretty chilled out but they are like a red rag to a bull for me. I'd like to be more objective about them but I just can't. I just want to arse fuck the lot of them, even the ugly ones just so they know how the rest of us feel. Lol
"
You sound like you need anger management Does your irrational rage extend to conservative voters? |

Me too. I wish I was more confident. I wish I was more thoughtful, and didn't get jealous or put people down. I wish I was more motivated and just got stuff done rather than talk about it! |

Wasn't this thread about something you dislike about yourself as opposed to others?

I'd wind in my sarcasm a bit, I need to recognise it's not entirely appropriate all the time!
Sometimes I choose to take things the wrong way to beat myself up - no idea why, but it's annoying.
I should probably wear my heart on my sleeve less too!

I wish I could stop over thinking , it lets me down .
I tried mindfulness to help with this . It works but there are times when it still works in overdrive.

Was a joke as you're always going on about your muscles nearly as much as shag :p
Good luck with it though mate, and if you really do want to change pick up the phone and ring mind they can point you in the right direction for help.
It's not gonna be an easy fix but just think of it like the first day you decided to go to the gym it'd a long road it will take a lot of work and a lot of dedication not just focused on it but other aspects of your life too.
But in the end you can change it.

The condition I have is sadly incurable (yes I have had it well looked into), but regardless, I do appreciate your help, you'd be surprised just how badly misunderstood so many personality issues are, not to mention the people who have them, so your understanding is admirable. |

there's often not a cure but coping stratagies can always be improved.

Me too. It was what inspired me to start the thread. For the most part though, I think most things have some good that come with the bad.
Even if it's only to identify others in a similar position and be able to empathise.
Don't beat yourself up trying to change the unchangeable. Acceptance starts with yourself. Easier said than done though.
But everyone is fighting a personal battle. This is one of ours. |

D speaking: I hate how my hatred for authority has gotten me in trouble over the years. Never knowing when to keep my mouth shut.
Another is the whole swinging lifestyle. I love it as a concept and me and the wife have a great time. But, I have recently figured out how different I am to most people. Its very hard knowing that my family actually know so little about me. My _iews on the world are completely different to my family and to have to sit and nod my head at some of the bollocks they go on about is and can be very difficult.
Knowing that so many people you class as good friends or family would hate how we live can be painful at times.
But.....that's there problem!! |

I over think too. The most insignificant comment can create a major crisis. I'd like to stop doing it but wouldn't know how. |

Lack of patience
A dislike of other peoples self importance (not saying I don't have any, but when it shows in others it really iritates me)
More local to here, reading a thread formulating a response hitting post only to forget the response and having to go back and remind myself |

"I wonder if the trait we have chosen would be the one our friends and loved ones would choose for us to change."
For me, probably not! Feeling anxious doesn't really affect anyone but me because for the most part my spiral of doom stays in my head and doesn't come out. They'd probably make me less argumentative or possibly a bit more spontaneous, but they'd be way down my list. |

I asked myself this question earlier, if I didn't have what I did, would I still be recognisable as myself?
Then I wondered, but does the world even want who I am, the way I am? |

Who cares what the world wants. The world gets what's it's given same as you do. All that matter is that you're someone you can look in the mirror ever day.

Yes the world does simply because you are in it and functioning. Just as you wouldn't be recognisable as yourself without what you have so it follows the world wouldn't be recognisable without you. |
