Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I didn't know there was such a thing, but apparently today is it. Naga Munchetty has a programme on yoga this afternoon.

I feel I should put myself in shoulder stand this very minute. Or maybe you'd prefer to join me in a downward dog?

Corpse is probably closest and one of my favourite positions. Just let everything relax and flop out.

I don't know how similar they are, but we once had someone demonstrating tai-chi at cubs. When he did 'the bear' he said "just imagine what a bear does in the woods" and all us adults just couldn't hold it together! (Nor explain our giggles - no way I was having anyone going home saying "Mummy, Akela said 'shit'!" )

Do they have 'beached-whale'?

The pictures of all those mass yoga sessions across the world are amazing.

A couple of weeks ago I saw the pictures of Jessamyn Stanley. Seeing them inspired me to try harder for some of those poses I thought would be impossible with my boobs and belly. Have a look.

Know your body. If the skin of your belly, thighs, arms or breasts get in the way, grab on and move it, This type of instruction may not be written in the scripts of most traditional yoga classes, so take the initiative to make yourself more comfortable. Yoga should be about how I feel not how I look Jessamyn has the right attitude.

My yoga teacher is great and we adapt a lot of the poses to accommodate injuries and bits of bodies. My boobs in shoulder stand and then plough are positively life threatening though as I suffocate myself. My minimiser bra does what it can to help.

That is good. Having an instructor who can adapt and look at you as a person,. Yoga has helped me. I am far more flexible than I was in my 20s. The three areas I concentrate on are pose, meditation and breathing. Yoga and meditation help me as in my job I have to be very flexible and the stress needs to be managed. Yes I am a Yogi.

But can you be a Yogi while you are naked? And if so, what is the correct term for that?

{drum rolls....builds up to punchline....}

I started to help with my breathing and balance. I have Ménière's and hyper-ventilate when I get dizzy. It has helped so much.

I'm working towards being a yogini. Proficiency may never be mine but it keeps me moving.

Purely out of a selfless desire to help, I'd be happy to hold them for you...

It's not so much holding needed as separating and keeping out of my mouth/nostrils so that I can breathe.
