I cook for just myself all the time as I enjoy cooking, and treat myself all the time.
Ready meals are no way as good as my own cooking, and far more expensive, so I never buy them, not even when they are hugely reduced. |

There are not many of todays young people who can actually cook .
I see women with jkids in the supermarkets and the stuff they buy is unbelievable . crap mostly and convienience foods. Which costs more than good fresh wholesome food .
They must have money to waste |

I did chicken ballantine stuffed with mushrooms tonight. Healthy, quick and scrummy. Food should be a passion not just fuel. Peaches: someone should be offering to cook a lovely meal for you. Muppets. I would. grrrr |

Have to admit to having the occasional ping dinner! I know I really should make more of an an effort. I used to be a Chef so am perfectly capable but I get very bored with this cooking for one malarky these days. |

This is exactly what I do too! Sad bastard portions of soup too! I'm fairly new to cooking from scratch but I've lost 47lbs since the beginning of May cause I learned to cook and stopped eating the ready made meals for one! |

must admit we used to be very lazy and buy ready meals often, as we would both be tired and couldnt be bothered cooking.
but recently we have been cooking properly all the time, and it really doesnt take much time to whip up a tasty dinner, and costs alot less, and we all feel better for it. all it takes is a little planning ahead, and as someone said, make something big and portion it up and freeze, hey presto a home made ready meal |

we do this, annies daughter is a veggie, but we arent, we sometimes share a veggie meal but usually cook two diff things, its a pain but once in the swing of it not to bad, and you can offten share the main parts, last night we had spag boll, i made the sauce split it into two, put mince in one and mushrooms and things in the veggie half, didnt take much longer to make and only one extra pan to wash |

I frequently dont cook myself a proper meal for the eve as kids now have hot school dinners. Only ever had one man come and cook for me. He brought all the food and wine and desert too if I remember right. Was lovely. |

This thread must have been on my mind since I read it last night.
Had to have a new electricity meter today, so an enforced afternoon off to wait for him to turn up.
Went to the butchers and couldn't run to beef, but currently cooking a leg of pork, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, honey roast parsnips and cinnamon-coated bitternut squash. Oh yeah and stuffing and apple sauce, yum! |
