Glasgow

I must have a helpful looking face. In the past I've been mistaken for a member of staff in Kwik Save, Tesco, Fopp & Debenhams.

Where have you been mistaken as a member of staff? Were you able to help with their enquiry despite not working there?

Only tonight,as I was perusing the seed packets in Homebase,a man came up to me and asked if I worked here. Me in my blue top and leggings pointed him in the direction of staff,in their black top with Homebase written in green on the back.

Happened to me a couple of times in WH Smith's years ago, usually if I was having a wander around the shops on my lunch break to pass the time.

I was a photographer once at an important event.

Someone thought I was a waitress. Husband thought it was hilarious. Git.

Yes all the time when in my own uniform.

Had a lady rant at me last week in Morrisons about not enough tills being open....

I let her rant and then when she said 'But it's not your fault pet' I answered 'No because I don't actually work here'

I laughed but she was quite embarrassed and hurried off with her trolley

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

It's not happened to me, even when I was the shop assistant in a book shop a thousand years ago.

In the middle

I have in a supermarket before when I have been in my uniform, it wasn't until I heard two old ladies saying how rude the staff was that I realised they meant me, i turned round and said "actually I am doing my shopping, I don't actually work here"

Shropshire/Midlands

I was in Homebase too in my supermarket uniform when someone asked about something on the shelf.

Being a mature student, I get mistaken for library staff at my uni quite a lot, or asked where lectures are in my colleague building. I do help out if I can.
