So much for him 'ruling himself out'
If this is true, I won't be watching any future editions of the program.
I actually met Chris Evans once, at a charity football match - mind you it was a long time ago - but back then he came across as a self absorbed twat.
Fair to say he's matured a little over the years, but he's still very much all about Chris Evans. |

No Clarkson was Top Gear, show won't be the same without him. Good luck to Evans but I can't see it working. "
To be honest I never really watch top gear. But Evans has fronted a few successful TV and radio shows so I guess he knows what he's doing. |

I'll reserve judgement til I see it.
It has the potential to be good - the guy knows his cars (except for painting all his ferraris White FFS!!), has had high points on TV and radio (I was listening the day he had his live on air meltdown and stormed out of the studio), and can be a funny guy.
So long as he doesn't try to emulate holiday predecessors he could do ok.
I think they should have Evans as a standalone presenter with guest hosts each week. The likes of Jay K, Kevin McCloud, Eric Bana (yes I know they were all 'Stars in a reasonably priced car') which would break up the episodes and move away from the theme of three guys doing random shit each week. A new format is the best way forward.
Like I said.
I'll reserve judgement til I see it.

It could 0work, but only if its a diffetent format and if anyone can come up with new ideas, evans can. I feel whether you like evans or clarkson you can not deny they are still two if the most talented profram makers around |

Well that ensures that I will never watch it again. Not a fan.
Twitter has lit up on this news - and not in a good way.
Let's just say that it would be a fair comment to say that Top Gear _iewing figures are about to go into free fall.

I reakon he will be quite good. He was a good freind of the show he was on it multiple times. He is a complete petrol head and he won't think twice about taking the piss and mimicking Clarkson lol.
I just hope they don't give him two fucking muppets to work with. Like that Guy whatever his name is. The hairy one. I can't stand him. |

Quite happy with Evans, he will be good, knows cars runs carfest which can he incorporated into the show
He will breathe new life into it, I like Clarkson but he isn't coming back (quite rightly) Evans will ge a good replacement,
People will "NEVER WATCH IT AGAIN" for the first or maybe first two weeks

He's a clever bloke and not afraid to voice his opinions. I think he would do a good job. Need to wait and see who's going to support him. Hamster and Captain Slow would work well with him, but still waiting to see if they will stay now that Clarkson is gone.
They are close mates, especially after Hamster smeared himself in the dragster run. I wouldn't blame them if they followed Clarkson onto whatever project he's thinking of, nor would I blame them if they stayed on what is a very lucrative show for them. |

Hammond and May have already stated that they will not work with anyone other than Jeremy and it has been reported that the three of them have signed a deal with Netflix |

Yes but I wonder how long it will be before the politically correct BBC try to clamp down on Evans outspoken opinions as they did with Clarkson? |

He has been given a 3 year contract...
So after the BBC destroyed one of its biggest revenue earners by sacking the man that was the show and in the process loosing the 2 sidekicks. They then found that they were contractually obligated to supply said sacked and walked presenters for the 2015/16 booked live shows and had no way of honoring those contracts so had to give the rights to Top Gear Live to Clarkson for FREE (Clarkson refused to pay anything for the business! LoL) or pay 10's of millions in compensation to those who found themselves out of pocket because of BBC executive decisions.
Now these towering intellects of broadcasting have given a poor second best a 3 year contract when in all lightly hood the program will now crash and burn and will not see a second series. LoL
Perfect definition of a problem (Clarkson) that did not need fixing and a fixer that just keeps getting it wrong!

In amongst the Unicorns & fairy dust |
Good morning all,,, there are lots of valid comments on this thread . Personally I will watch the new line up who ever it consists of -saying that I do think it should be renamed / rebranded as there is a certain dynamic with the trio that is possibly in replaceable - as I always think If I don't like it I will switch it off and read a book - simples |

Top Gear was there prior to Clarkson and the others. The name should be preserved and see how the new line up performs.
The sad fact is that the last series had actually returned to it's roots a bit and had improved on the last few series. Hopefully the resurrected series can carry that forwards.

"move away from the theme of three guys doing random shit each week."
But move to what though?
Let's face it no one is going to watch a genuine car re_iew show because no fucker buys a car each week.
And even driving and re_iewing amazing super cars will be boring fast.
The only reason the show became.popular was because it was 3 guys doing random shit with cars once a week. |

I don't mean stop the random shit.
Just don't have the same three guys doing it each week - I should have been clearer.
Guest presenters would offer variety.
Plus they could get Simon Cowell on again and accidentally drive him off a cliff.
For real.

You mean The Hairy one that can fix mechanical stuff for real, is a huge fan of heavy engineering, can tear down 20T trucks and lap the Isle of Man TT course at over 130mph average speed....

surely those who are 'petrol heads' will watch this given the show will still be about 'cars'..?
ok a different 'celebrity' will front it and there are clearly fans of Clarkson etc and fans of Evans who will differ about whom is better etc..
i wonder how many will watch it having said no its finished now Clarkson has gone will secretly tune in.. |

Top Gear was getting more ridiculous and predictable. Formulaic. Hence the latest yet to be shown edition in which, from the clips Caravans get smashed up - Again.
They've replaced an idiot with a ginger nut.
Don't knock it till you've tried it.
For an annoying little shit. . . . Evans. . .has done. . . . quite well.
Some say it might just wuuurrk. |

Sick of people crying about this when one episode hasn't even aired yet.
He's a car nut. He probably won't say semi-racist things for laughs, and won't punch someone because they've not brought him dinner.
