Agreed!! Too much emphasis is placed on dress size and weight. I've seen women of all shapes & sizes and its confidence in their own skin that shines through...that's the way we should all feel...its a struggle for me but Fab and going to Chams is helping me every day

On the contrary, people are still going to use it whether you like it or not so I suggest:

We drop the people running the modelling industry!!!

Commercial models are plus size when they are over size 12.

Of course we should OP!

We dont call dirty smelly sods under deodorized or ablutionary challenged, we call them gungy gits.

We should apply the same rules to those who cant leave the pies alone!

Can't say as a term it really bothers me, I wouldn't regard it as derogatory if someone described me as plus sized.

I suppose perhaps there's something that within the modelling industry there are "normal" models (size 6, 8) and "plus size" (size 12 and above) and the fact that there's a need to differentiate. In an ideal world for me there would be a greater variety of body sizes on catwalks and standard advertising, but things being the way they currently are, there will always be a distinction.

A size is a size, it doesn't have to be given a lable, ala, plus, ultra, and so on.

You don't get plus size fashion models. Kate Moss is not a plus size model. She's a 'Special' or 'Main Board' premium face at a fashion agency.

What we should do is get small

Start with all clothes size let's say 10

And then you get size 10.1 size 10.2 size 10.3

So we're all a ten really

Or that's how I see it after 5 pints anyhow

This is exactly the case.

When I worked in fashion shooting catalogues, it's an easy way to find the models you want to work with.

If we were shooting a range designed for larger ladies (like ASOS Curve) then we would ask for plus models of a certain size.

If we were shooting a range designed for shorter ladies (like ASOS Petite) then we would ask for petite models of a certain size.

It's not rocket science. It's just a way of saying 'not mainstream commercial'.

Tess Holiday is a plus size model and proud to be one. I follow her on FB she's gorgeous.

If you're gonna drop plus six you'll have to drop petite and tall too!

Tbh I don't pay too much attention to a woman's size. I find all kinds of shapes and sizes attractive. I'm attracted to so many different things and what I find sexy about one woman might be totally different with another.

It varies to which modelling agency and what company/designer you are madelling for. My daughter is a part time model and at a slim size ten and boob size of 34b she was classed as a plus size model for one agency. She was mortified

The leading modeling agencies don't take on 'part time' models. The modeling agencies that are lower down the chain make up all kinds of silly things.

I used to deal with some of the leading commercial and fashion agencies in London, I assure you it's over size 12. When shooting for major department store catalogues we'd *always* use size 10 or 12 models, they were not plus size. They simply fitted the size 10 or 12 samples we were sent.

Why would anyone ever care what the fashion industry uses as its terms of reference? Unless you actually work within the industry it should have no effect on your day to day life.

The high street fashion sizes are dictated by what's selling the most. Any other way of organising your stock would be madness. But who am I to say that the fashion industry is sane?

Exactly. High street 'plus size' is a direct marketing ploy to get larger ladies into their shops who might have assumed that they didn't otherwise stock those sizes and head to specialist shops instead.

The plus size clothing range in some shops is abysmal. They think we either want to dress like Waynetta slob or Hyacinth Bucket.

Yours is quite nice although if it is geared toward the larger lady, I wish they would use the larger lady to model their clothes. A bug bear of mine

I couldn't even find a single pair of 34x34" jeans in tesco on Sunday. Am I too fat, too tall or a weird combo? Or perhaps they just no idea how to best utilise their shop floor storage capacity.

Try Asda.

I have the same problem finding jeans that fit just right, and don't try and cut your ballsack off.
