I started my Juice Plus diet last week as well as exercising more. In a week I've dropped 12 pounds. Feel amazing right now!

That sounds a heck of a lot for one week, good luck with it, though.

First week will be mostly fluid loss so it should level out. Just remember crash dieting never works as your body always fights it. Slow and steady wins every time.

Well done though

Tina's right. That's a lot for a week. Slow down a bit if you can - it'll make it easier to keep it off. Well done though.

2 meal replacement shakes a day and 1 meal.

No carbs. No wheat or gluten, no sugar, no dairy apart from eggs and skimmed milk.

It's not bad.

Great going

Though be cautious as that's a lot of weight to lose in a week.

I agree that most of it is probably body fluid loss.. But hey it's a step in the right direction. Now keep exercising and keep the carbs away and bring on the protein

All the best ... Keep at it and am sure you will feel even better in a month

At the moment my nutribullet is my best friend. Spinach, banana, apple and nuts. Brilliant smoothie that keeps the energy levels up. Had mine at 7am and just getting round to a light snack. Works wonders for me.

Incidentally, i followed docs orders and lost nearly 3 stone at 1-2,pounds a week just like i was told to. The little sod never told me that losing weight can trigger gall stone problems. Childbirth, you women have it easy, try gall stones for real pain (he says running for the hills).

Well done OP, keep up the good work.

Great achievement - just take it steady!

Plenty of fruit and vegetables plus plenty of fluids, orally lol!

I bet you feel all buzzed up and the results will speak for themselves after a very short period!

Plenty of sexercise, sorry exercise too, likewise take it easy initially and build up so that your body gets used to the 'new you'. Make it a life decision and don't go back to your old ways - you will not only look how you want to but feel so much better!

Saying that, a darn good beating and some R & R could cum into play!!

Love to hear how you get on!

Depends how over weight you are

When I joined fat camp last January I lost 16 and a half pound in my first week, I was nearly 20 stone though, big weight losses for big people in their first weeks is doable and normal

The trick is not to let is dishearten you when it slows down, I lost 5 pound in my second week then only 1 to 2 pound every week after

Well done OP

Not to be horrible but 12 pounds in one week means the vast majority of what you have lost is muscle and water not fat.

It's a start though everybody looses mainly fluid in their first week but you have to get past that to start looking fat

You've not read the ingredients have you?

There's 28g carbs per serving with 26g of them being sugar

From the packet it's the cheapest protien powder (soy and chickpea) mixed with the cheapest sugar powder (fructose), then some "minerals" although they don't tell the form so probably useless oxides, generic vitamin powder and then some extracted fruit and veg flavourings

You'd be able to make a much healthier version from myprotien or bulkpowder bulk packets.

But this stuff is pretty much designed to screw your osmotic pressure to shed water to create rapid fake weight loss.

It also contains less than 2 g of fat.

So unless her meal in the day is around 40g of unsaturated fat content she is rapidly going to start suffering negative effects of having no fat in her diet. (Around 30% of your calories should be coming from fat).

Which is probably the point most people give up, so the company has these great rapid weight loss stories and people going "oh I wish I hadn't quit" thinking it's their fault when in reality it's their body's going "yeah I'm dying here please eat something"

It's what works for you

Some people can go better on less food than others

I regular go a day or two without eating at all

I can't diet the only way I could loose weight was to stop eating

I lost 7 stone last year I did loose the plot a little and put 2 stone back on but I got back onto it and since re joing fat camp I've lost nearly 4 stone so I've lost just short of 9 stone all together

I'm not saying going a day or two without food is an ideal diet but its worked for me

If you go on a fad diet and can't stick it you have to work out what your body can do its trial and error to find out what works for you as an individual

That's the thing as soon as you stop taking the shakes in a day or two you'll have most of the water back in yourself so won't have changed shape much at all.

It's a diet for scales not measurements

Not eating for a few days is fine you aren't really expected to eat every day very few hunting animals do.

But there's a difference between not eating between balanced intakes and this kind of thing which is engineered around the marketing with an inbuilt deficiency that's expected to be used long term.

"I'm only trying to lose a bit to go on holiday in September. Probz won't die in that time. I still eat. Just one healthy meal a day. "

There's half hour issue right there.

Your body NEEDS to increase its metabolism in order for the real gains to happen.

One main meal - even if it's healthy is not going to do that.

You need to make it work harder internally by forcing it to use calories to metabolise what you're taking in.

You are basically on a calorie deficit diet BUT you need to work out those calories and spread them across the day.

Your body then will be constantly using calories to metabolise the food and this in turn will burn fat as you're deficient on intake.

Does that make sense?

Crash diets and ultra low carb diets in particular rely on the body entering a state called ketosis. I would defiantly recommend you do some research on the subject as the side effects on the body can be very bad and even prove fatal for diabetics.

It's worryingly low fat though which is dangerous.

But you can see how dodgy the marketing do these things are the op has read it all and believed it to be a sugar free low carbon healthy diet.

Took me a fair while to actually find their nutritional info not just the "ingredients" and it's not what they're claiming it to be.

Oats and a good protein blend would be better (heck even maltodextrin would be a step up)

well done!!! Sounds awesome!! I'm a fan of a shake diet. The nutrition in them is enough to keep you going for your meal.

If it's ketosis you are after (body using fat for energy, instead of what you eat essentially), then you can do it by cutting out carbs, just like Atkins.

But whatever you do, well done and keep going
