Do you think this is something that should be taught at schools or ....

something that parents should tackle ?

And at what age should it be taught at school....?

some say in juniors ....ie...earlier the better

our older son is 4 yrs and is allready courious about things. i think the earlier the better in schools the easier it is for parents to talk to their kids as they allready have some ideas from school.

In countries like sweden etc.

I think im right in saying that they start sex education earlier than we do but then parents are more liberal minded over there.

And it results in less teenage pregnanacies too which is always a good thing.

I think this country has quite a high percentage of young parents.

sex education should start when you bring the baby home in the shawl. if they are old enough to ask the question they are old enough to get an answer but in a way they can understand

I think that it is up to the parents to judge when a child is ready not the schools. A parent knows their child best. My daughter asked questions when she was about 7 and I talked to her about the things she asked. As she has gotten a little older I talked to her about development.

My boys however are nearly 9. I have had no questions and they are too busy play with their trains and lego.

Kids grow up so fast and I know that they need to learn the in's and out's and the dangers and how to keep themselves safe, but I want my children to enjoy their childhoods for as long as possible, cos lets face it your a long time an adult

So would you say its not the schools job to educate about sex ?

I think it should be a home thing and not school but then where does that leave the kids whose parents wont or cant educate ?

Some parents just dont care enough to teach their kids anything let alone the rudiments of sex etc.

Southampton

personally i think parents should be having on going, age appropriate conversations with their children. this makes a base for open dialogue and openess with your kids .as a parent id hope my child could come to me and discuss anything .this openess doesnt happen with a one off conversation but is built over time . inturn this should work along side whats being tought at the school . my childs school ensure we are involved with knowing whats being tought regards sex education and can carry on discussions at home.

as for the age it should be tought ...think any questions should be delt with as they come up with your child and answered in age appropriate mannor .some kids will ask general questions earlier than others ,doesnt mean a full requirment for discussion of all the mechanics ects at that point lol ! again with schools they start with just very basic simple info and then build towards the biological aspects . much better then the one off film and talk i had back in the day lol !!! nothing discussed then wham !!!! they suddenly separted the classes to all boy and all girls ones and then THE TALK LOL !!!
