I've just been turned down for being too muscular, and came across a girls profile last night who stated that she also found large muscles a turn off.

If such is the case, then why? Do you find muscular guys vain, do you think they'd be aggressive and rough, or do you simply not like the look of them?

Different strokes for different folks.

Plenty women like muscles, focus on those who do rather than those who don't

Why should people have to justify their preferences?

I'm fat, if someone finds fat unattractive I most certainly wouldn't ask them to explain why: I recognise I won't appeal to all and concentrate on those to whom my size isn't an issue.

Works for me!

Ask her? Only she knows why she doesn't like muscular guys.

Not everyone likes the same thing and their reasons also differ wildly. You've been on the forum long enough to know that, and must have read some of the multiple threads that start why do women like this or why don't they like that

Maybe it was just a polite excuse and there was another reason?

Who knows! Certainly not anyone but her.

I wasn't asking for a justification, it was a simple query.

sorry.... but it isn't

maybe you can answer a question with a question....

why do people focus so much on the things that exclude them... as opposed to concentrating on the part of the population that will like what you are offering....

it is kinda like not taking rejection well but trying no sugarcoat it

Some people just don't like it. I know a lot who like the very defined muscle but not massive in size brad Pitt vs Coleman for instance. Most prefer the Pitt kind of body.

Mass monsters seem to appeal to men more than women.

I'm not sure why you feel I'm complaining, there was no aggro in my opening post (it was actually a rather flattering way to be turned down), but the topic certainly seems to have caused friction.

Just where I need to be.

For me it is about proportion. A tall man who has bulk muscle is very attractive, a shorter man who has bulk muscle isn't unless it is well defined. I have different ideas on what muscular means I think.I am more attracted to someone who actually underplays his physical appearance.

We all (men included) fancy people of different shapes and sizes. There is no way we can be all things for all people (try as we might...especially on here).

What is more, what is considered 'too muscular' for one, most certainly wouldn't be for another.

To my knowledge I haven't been knocked back for being too muscular (I'm a good deal less built than you), however, I've certainly been turned down by women who regard my physique as too 'gym trained' (for want of a better expression), or by those who assume I must be overly vain because I care so much about keeping myself in good shape.

It's not like me to press women for answers when they say I'm not their type, but on this occasion curiosity got the better of me, so I asked and she said I was too muscular. Having already asked her that I wasn't going to ask follow up questions to her about WHY she doesn't like guys with muscles, but I was still intrigued so I posted this thread instead.

Just goes to show how people see things differently. I don't see any friction here just people pointing out the obvious: NONE of us will have universal appeal so pointless asking why.

i stopped asking that question about 5 minutes after i got here!!!! started selling my personality and bribing people with honey roasted peanuts!!!!

i do find it fascinating that people always want to change the minds of those who minds are least likely to change... and spend so much time trying to prove the point that they forget about the people that actually like them...

I mean, how dare people not like me and turn me down!!!!

its like they take them for granted whilst chasing the impossible

people want to be liked by everyone... i'm a realist and a pragmatist... those who like me like me... those who don't don't.... and i know which group if i focus on are going to give me less ulcers and more enjoyment....

Sounds like you could be overthinking what might just be a visual preference that doesn't have much behind it. I'm not generally attracted to blond men, it's not for any deep-seated reason, I'm just not.

I don't particularly consider myself muscly, more toned, but I have had women tell me they think I must be vain, which is why I take my time to get to know them a little on here first. They couldn't be further from the truth and, as they find out when we meet, I'm probably the total opposite, much more interested in them than myself. it's nice to keep in shape, but it doesn't determine who I am, and this is why I don't have a 'type' when I comes to women, I'm far more interested in the person, for me, the connection has to be physical and social.

Most woman want to see more that just a physique. Brains, humour, humility are all valued.

Perhaps less focus on the physique and more on other attributes and the lady might see a great guy and will see the muscles as a bonus....

Nope, guess again. My other half is a cross between Bruce Willis and Jason Statham. He's into kick boxing and fit as fuck. I'm more Hattie Jacques than Halle Berry.

If I were insecure about my body I wouldn't have met Ben. Oh, and I met him on here.

"I've just been turned down for being too muscular, and came across a girls profile last night who stated that she also found large muscles a turn off.

If such is the case, then why? Do you find muscular guys vain, do you think they'd be aggressive and rough, or do you simply not like the look of them?

Ur not that muscular so don't see her logic there lol

It depends on what people class as muscular, and to be fair, I'm considerably moreso than you.

No ur not

I wasn't trying to be a dick with my post though it may have been read that way. I'm bigger than you are though and leaner

Assuming that's actually you in your pics, no, you're quite clearly not. Maybe it's poor lighting but you look quite unexceptional, fairly athletic, but otherwise very much like the vast majority of guys I see at the gym.

Oh dear god I mean really....are you sure it was your muscles that put her off? "

"I don't particularly consider myself muscly, more toned, but I have had women tell me they think I must be vain, which is why I take my time to get to know them a little on here first. Not the look for me either I'm afraid.

If I was to analyse why, I would probably say I feel intimidated by a man with a ripped and toned body with a defined 6 pack.

Personal choice but prefer a bit of a wobble - like myself!

To answer the question. I like proportional muscle mass. When they start to bulge too much, especially on shorter men they distort the body. Arms that don't lay against the side of a body because the biceps are too big make men look awkward and it's not aesthetically pleasing to me. I prefer big thighs to big arms.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away & Spain

Seemingly the new in look is the "Dad Bod". Not overly muscled & chiseled but just a normal bod type. I think perceptions swing for what is considered attractive from a Botticelli body with layers, to the 50's style of Marilyn Monroe curves, to the modern day size zero. It's the same with guys shapes... changing from chubby, to skinny student, to buff, to gym bunny. It's partly the influence of the media of the day (from art through to social media) that affects our preferences. It can also be our age & self perception & how comfortable we are with our own bodies.

So perhaps the person who doesn't like the gym bunny look just feels more comfortable with a average shaped bod rather than someone whose lifestyle seems to be dictated by hours in the gym. The sculpted look will still be one to be admired but perhaps the perceptions of what body type constitutes a good time in the sack is swinging back to the opposite of the gym bunny. It's down to personal choice I guess.

Focus on those who like your type & not those who don't.
