"Why do people think it's OK to be rude & insulting if they put lol at the end of their post?  "
It's doubly 'non-insulting' if they start the sentence with "No offence, but....."

Trebly insulting if they start with 'don't take this the wrong way but...' since if you are then offended they can claim it is all your own fault... |

Don't take this the wrong way, and no offence but [insert rest of blah blah text here]. lol x

Maybe to show its in jest, sarcastic or a bit of banter? Without seeing the post concerned its difficult to comment but sometimes its used to show someone was having a laugh as in written text, no facial expressions, tone of voice or gestures are seen. |

Maybe to show its in jest, sarcastic or a bit of banter? Without seeing the post concerned its difficult to comment but sometimes its used to show someone was having a laugh as in written text, no facial expressions, tone of voice or gestures are seen. "

True about tone but I still think they can help at times, same as you use facial expressions and body language in person.
If someone takes a comment of mine wrong then I'll always try and explain myself. Same as I would in person.
