They were based near to where I went to school in the Cotswolds and would often practice in a valley behind the school. Amazing stuff

Yeah was disappointing that it was just the red arrows. Can't help the weather though.

Sounds like it was a great sight to see Shag.

I was there for the fly past last year and I loved seeing the Red Arrows plus the other planes, both old and new flying over the capital.

I was in London a few months back, banging this hot dancer and then we hear this noise...

Three helicopter gunships, two chinnooks followed by a bomber and two fighters, all flying in formation and painted black.

Thought either Obama was dropping in or WWIII had started early.

Turned out it was the fly by to mark the 'victorious' end of our involvement in Afghanistan.

Probably flying the Mach Loop. It's a bit like the RAF's playground. The ok Buccaneer pilots would regularly navigate it at around 50ft and 500mph. Those days are long gone now.

The Mach Loop is still in use, but the kites are bit more updated. Google 'Mach Loop Tornado' message and take a look at the first image,

Lordswood

was at clacket lane services this afternoon and they flew by coming back into formation and a little later a single plane flew over banked in a hard turn. Fantastic sight and sound It's fun in a single engine prop, must be a real rush in a decent jet

Cloud level was 2000 feet today otherwise they would have flown over RAF Northolt for the open day today.

One good thing about Lincolnshire, particularly Lincoln area and south...get a free airshow most days. Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and all this last week they have been doing the practices for the Queens Flypast...so had even more buzzing around :D

Just where I need to be.

The DDay celebrations they passed over my house a few times. I got some great pictures with the red, white and blue smoke coming out. Amazing to get a close up view, scary as well as very low.

Checked the internet and it said two crashed but he only remembers the one..

I know the loop is still in use. I meant the days of 50ft at 500mph are long gone. I think the lowest they're allowed to fly is now 250ft but usually 500ft. Unless it's an American aircraft, they Shit themselves below 10,000ft!

There was a crash in 1988. At the airfield. The pilot is a family friend of ours. He ejected after the aircraft crashed on take off.

I had the pleasure of seeing the Sally B Flying Fortress fly over my house yesterday. We are always being overflown by commercial aircraft and light aircraft, but the sound of Sally B had me running out of the house as soon as I heard it. A wonderful sight, as well as a joy to hear the roar of the radial engines.

As a skeggy lass it was always wonderful to see the arrows come over to practice, fond memories of my youth

They're amazingly talented but after seeing them once or twice the routine loses its awesome factor.

I've seen them at swansea airshow 6 years running now and the same routine just doesn't have that wow to it anymore....

Can't believe I'm describing my relationship with the red arrows like a failed marriage
