Shaving your head for the first time is special.

On the looking stupid thing I can think of several women who have successfully pulled the look of.

Natalie Portman

Demi Moore

Sigourney Weaver

Gail Porter.

You just have to be confident

Good luck.

on the road to nowhere in particular

Empowering and a great confidence booster. Be prepared to field questions asking if you are in remission. The first time feels amazing too.

You can always wear a wig if you decide you want hair again after you shave it. There's some really realistic ones at reasonable prices.

Skin from Skunk Anansie too

I usually shave mine in the summer, but have let it grow out this year

Go for it OP, you'll never know what it looks or feels like until you do it

Don't do it.

If you hate it you'll have to wear a wig or a hat for months.

If you are confident then I'm sure you will look great and feel great. I shaved mine off more than ten years ago and will never let it grow back. I love the feel of it. Good luck xx

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Do it and we can plant kisses on your head.

I had to have half my hair shaved off just before my 21st birthday. The lumpy scar tissue stops me doing it now or I'd join you.

Is not getting a referal to the dermatologist and cutting out dairy a better step to deal with the eczema rather than shaving your head and still have the soul burning itch? I doubt you'll want to wear a scarf let alone a wig until the eczema abates.

I find that a good dandruff or even cradle cap shampoo helps when I get eczema on my scalp or try the cade oil shampoo bar from lush - it smells like tar but it's amazing for sensitive scalps. As does a handful of salt in the bath and some tea tree oil. Try to avoid using heat and towel dry your hair as dry as you can.

If all else fails a ladyshave will do the trick on a full charge.

got steriod and other creams from dermatologist, apply twice a day, bloody impossible with thick hair, and wash twice a week, so it builds up and looks like iv had my head in a chip pan, add sweat in this weather and im scalping myself with my fingernails!

will try the 1 from lush, tried the rest!

Im sure you are hot to use your quote. Im watching Sigourney now in Aliens 3, head shaved and still looks great. Eczema is horrible, I have it on my hands and if I dont use my steroid ointment, my hands bleed and itch like mad, so I know how you feel. Not on my scalp admittedly but its a horrid feeling. Our hair is our crowning glory as they say but if I had a serious problem, I always said id shave it off and get some fantastic wigs. Hope you sort this out soon

Have you seen Charlize Theron in Mad Max, she looks sexy as hell with a shaved head.

If it's something you want to try, then it's worth a shot isn't it? Or can you go really short first and then try the whole shaved look ?

Just go with it... Shaved mine when I started chemo... Amazing how much you can do with a 'bald' head

I have a hair appointment in about 45 mins and want to go short - not bald though! My hair has looked the same since I was 18 and I'm sooooo bored with it

Trouble is, it's just at acceptable pigtail length! Lol
