I have wrote a couple of posts in the forum now and 80% of the feed back has been negative.
Why do most people get the wrong idea?
Do people feel under pressure if exposed to what is really going on? |

It's the tone of your posts. They don't come across well I'm afraid. If you look at some of the terminology you have used you should see why people don't comment positively. |

I hadn't noticed your posts so I've just had a look to see what's going on. You seem to have insulted just about every sort of person one way or another.
Perhaps read some of the replies and see whether they are really negative or just different to your views?

The simple fact of the forums here is that if you open up a controversial thread, you can be damned sure that you're going to get a number of replies challenging your views.
Negative? Perhaps. Or maybe just different views to yours.
I wouldn't worry about it OP - don't be a sheep, have your own views, but don't be surprised if others challenge you.
If we all thought the same these forums would be a boring place!  |

Is it possible that English isn't his first language and a lot of the meaning is lost in translation, combined with being a bit of a wind up merchant could explain a lot.

Here's the thing: most people you say have given you negative feedback. Yet you say that they have the wrong idea.
Maybe sometimes the majority isn't wrong.

I've just read through a handful of threads started by the OP.
I think that his use of language is unclear at times, whether that is because of ESOL or something else isn't clear. If it's ESOL then his language is much better than some with English as a first language on here.
The post and run style on the threads I looked at made me wonder about the motive. However, a recent post on a thread states that Obi's response is what the thread question was about.

Some of the OP's posts suggest a different cultural and religious bias. Like old world beliefs in how women should behave.
In my mind I picture missionaries taking "religion" and highly moralistic views to the old world to help "educate" the masses.
I'm not sure I've explained that image very well and genuinly hope it doesn't come across as racist, really not my intention.
It's not that long ago that we didn't let women run in athletics meetings because men thought they'd faint...... |

I just quickly skim read some of your threads and you didn't say much of anything. Other people jumped to conclusions which then made the thread dive bomb.

The responses we get to our communication say something about both the recipients and the communicator. Whilst the forums are probably not the ideal places to learn communications abc, the key thing is that if you're the recurrent theme, then it's easier to direct the change at one person than to everyone else.
If one's behaviour isn't working as intended, behave differently, in other words.
People normally adjust their behaviour according to circumstances and setting. if the ops finding this hard, he could consider empathising with others, observing how people here behave spending time reviewing what he's written, before submitting his posts.
It all depends on what you're trying to achieve. |
