Going to start with True Romance, the haunting music, the scenes of Detroit and then Patricia Arquette's voiceover - "you're so cool, you're so cool, you're so cool" stunning. |

"Saving Private Ryan.
Which is a pity because the rest of the film is crap!"
Definitely dramatic, one of the great war film opening scenes. Not sure it ranks with the best of other genres though. |

"I can't feel my legs... Kaiser."
The opening scene in Jaws is genius, so much so that Spielberg uses the same trick at the start of Jurassic Park - the unseen monster dragging someone to their death. |

"Pulp fiction...
Any of you fucking pricks move and I'll execute every mother fucking last one of you..."
Tarantino knows how to start a movie, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and True Romance are all incredibly good. |

"I always said, if I had to fuck a guy... I mean had to, if my life depended on it... I'd fuck Elvis." |

It has the most amazing cast, the scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper is utterly mesmerising. |

The Godfather Part I with Marlon Brando is a brilliant opening scene, the wedding, the people wanting an audience with the Godfather, the request for help from the undertaker shaking with fear, the favour which would be called in when Sonny was killed. Brilliant. |

"Surprised no one's mentioned Star Wars yet."
I was just thinking about that.
Those opening shots when we saw the Star Destroyer for the first time.
Even after 38 years it is still an incredible shot |

"Up.
A great beginning and so sad. I had to pause before I carried on with the rest of the film. "
One of the most touching opening scenes for sure, brilliant. |

And at the time it was ground breaking, no one had seen effects like that ever. It really was out of this world. |

"Inglourious Basterds inside the french farmers shack."
Yes that is the first of many astounding scenes in a film totally bereft of cliches (sorry I don't have the wherewithal to produce the acute accent!) |

Apocalypse Now!
Chopper blade sound....
Waiting for a mission, going soft!
Then "This is the end"....
Napalm....
Helicopters!!!
If it had had ninjas in it, then I would of died on the spot!
Need I say more! |

"Inglourious Basterds inside the french farmers shack.
Oh good one "
I'm generally not a great fan of Tarantino movies but this one is really excellent.
I have to confess I did fall in love a little with the cinema proprietress. She was lovely!

Seems like Tarantino is genius at creating brilliant first scenes. |

Trainspotting, Iggy Pop blasting, Ewan McGregor running and the famous "choose life" dialogue. Remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing up, it was like a jolt of electricity charging through my veins. |

"Goodfellas is also an amazing start. The rest of the movie is brilliant as well."
Goodfellas is my choice as well. "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster." Then into Tony Bennett's Rags to Riches. Brilliant! |

" Of course we will Never know the real power or experience Of a real Dinosaur, which would of been awesome In real life, but in the first jurassic park when there is a scene I think its small dinosaurs on migration I think they are annual migration, and I remember clearly at the time almost Jumping out of my seat When A tyranasaurus rex rushes out from no Where at great speed I think at the same time collides with a tree trunk Almost shattering it due to his power And gets one of the small dinosaurs which bravely fights back second blow From t rex takes him out that scene high lighted the movie makers skills for me movies have come a long way over the years.. |

Antichrist has a one of my favourite openers, really sets the tone of the film. But I think Kubrick is the master of opening scenes; 2001, The Shining and ACO are all brilliant. |
