I'd like to go up in smoke, but i do like the idea of a headstone so that many years in the future people can wander around and wonder who I was and what my life might have been like. I used to do this in the local cemeteries when i was younger with my mates. |

I have had this convo. The missus suggested having my ashes fired out of a cannon at Burning Man... I think she was joking...
Then we got down to what you'd do with the body.
MY woman said she'd donate her organs, I said they could have whatever they wanted that was still working *except* for my corneas - I want my eyes.
"What," she shot back, "is that so you can see hell?"

"Medical research. Forms all filled in and signed. Everyone who needs to know is in no doubt of my wishes.
Seriously?
That's so cool
How do you go about it? "
Contact your local university dept of anatomy. If there isn't one, ask your GP. |

Cremation, put my ashes in the ground and plant an apple tree to remember me by, stick a bench next to it and people can be sheltered whilst they laugh at the daft things I did |

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you) |
We are being buried at a natural death centre so our bodies go back to nature and feed trees and little creatures in a traditional pagan way
We found out about them a couple of years ago and love the whole ethos including the fact that you can choose what to be wrapped in and even dig the grave of your loved one if you choose |

"Worm food.
seems like a good idea to me ..i think that is how the food chain is meant to work ...a perpetual cycle "
I'm not bothered about a traditional funeral or coffin.
Just dig a hole, roll me in and cover me up. Job done.
The cost of funerals is extortionate it's disgusting. |

Sea Food
Heavy canvas bag secured to regulation bit of railroad tie.
Boat with bunch of friends & lovers, drinks, fried chicken & sandwiches
Trip around island in Mediterranean my pals know about - drinks & fun - dump me over half-way point. The Doors music loud.
The End |

I agree. Funerals are about those left behind though. They want to feel they've said their farewells and given the person they've lost, the best send off they can. I've said to my family to do whatever makes them happy - I'll be gone so it won't worry me. |

I still do that, was at a cemetery a few weeks ago trying to find the oldest grave. 1617 was what i could find, found one up north once which had 812 on it!!
Sometimes i think cremation but i guess it doesn't matter. I ll be deed, maybe shot into space like spock. |

They can do what they want with me
Dont matter once I'm dead
I do have my funeral paid for already thought but its only a basic crimation I can't see the point in spending loads if money on funeral I'll sooner leave the money to my kids than pay for a top of the range coffin that's going to get burnt |

I've filled in the forms for my body to be used for organ replacement and any medical research that its of use to. Leftovers can be used to make soup for all I care. I have told my family that I want no funeral at all. Have a party if you want, just nothing remotely funereal. |

Not bothered either way really, but he wants burying so I'm going with him so I can snuggle when we are dead

I will certainly be buried rather than cremated. If you have a large enough garden, and the land is suitable, there is nothing stopping you from being buried in your back yard. |

When my gran died about 40 year ago my parents could not afford to pay for it and added to the stress they had to deal with.
So 15 year ago I paid for mine so my kids do not have this problem. One of best decisions I ever made because the costs are now extortionate.
If you can afford too then go for it because say you pay 2k now and live 10 more imagine the costs then. |

"My body is going to medical research so neither
When you die if you have donated body. What all happens "
My understanding is they carry out their research and then they return the body to the family and possibly pay for funeral costs but i might be wrong |

"My body is going to medical research so neither

Depends. Organs that haven't been used, if viable, go to people who need them.
The rest is used for what ever research required at that time.
Or a body farm where the body is used to help pathologists to see what happens to the body under different conditions. |

The body farm bit not necessarily depends on the conditions they want to study eg.fully clothed half buried.
Buried under different types of soil ect |

Not too fussed really. Not much say in the matter when I'm dead anyway, no way of knowing for sure. But I love the idea that Peach want to give me a Viking burial. Set ablaze in a log raft and set out to sea. All the elements invoked, nice

Somewhat ironic that this thread has been resurrected
Personally I don't care what happens to the bits that can't be donated when I die.
Though simply burying me in the garden is as good as anything. Probably DEAD cheap too

Has to be cremated, burying people is a dirty habit. Me and the ex wife had decided that whoever went first the other would keep the ashes of the first to go and when they went, they too would be cremated and our ashes would be mixed together and then scattered by our kids. I think that plan went out the window along with the marriage |
