Which is better? I always preferred the playstation because the xbox controllers were too bulky for my little hands but the xbox has the kinect which would be fun to play with my lad.
I have no interest in battlefield or any of that shit. I like racing games and stuff like oblivion/skyrim.. |

We're a Wii u family. 
have great laugh with my sprogs and the games on there. 
there's something for everyone and better selection of games that are more family oriented |

I had a wii a while back and while I agree that they are more family oriented my lad has zero attention span so doubr he'll play it much and you can't get elder scrolls on the wii  |

I have always gone with xbox, purely for the exclusive franchise games like Halo, and Gears of war which were only available on xbox. So depends really which games you want to play?
My brother has always gone with the playstations, and some good games on there that are not available on xbox.
When xbox 360 compared to Ps3, the ps3 machine was made much better quality, you could tell just by holding them, and i'm sure 99% of xbox 360 owners have had the red ring of death light up on the front of their machine (common fault with the 360's which meant they had to be sent off to microsoft to be repaired, free of charge i might add). No such problems with the playstation machines.
As i've stuck with xbox, i will probably go for the new xbox one when i upgrade. |

I also have kinnect on my xbox, my 7 year old niece loves playing on it, so your little boy would love it. I get a bit carried away with STAR WARS kinnect myself sometimes, thinking i'm a jedi in my living room. |

To be fair, the original ps3 overheated after about 9 months from new, then died with the yellow light of death because the cpu and gpu would detach from the motherboard because of excessive heat.
I've had more than one ps3 disassembled and sat blasting the motherboard with a heat gun to reattach them. |

I'm an Xbox fan but I'm haven't bought an new game for my one in quite a while. I enjoy the Skyping through it though, it comes in handy when I'm talking to family I'm lands far far away |

if i was to pick a console of those two i would lean more to the ps4. have you considered pc gaming though? |

The gold offers on xbox one are pretty good now and for social stuff, bowling, tennis and dance games are great as no controller to hold. Kinect is a pretty good thing but little benefit to hardcore gamers. Seems daft but being able to say xbox on is still pretty neat
Ps4 did have feature march at one time but less so now. A lot depends on what friends have in terms of linking profiles. |

My brother never had any problems with his ps3, still works just as good now as the day he bought it. |

I have both, the ps4 is the better hardware but I have more fun using the xbox. The only advice that makes sense when choosing which to get its too get the one your friends have as you want to play online with them |

Since the announcement of fallout 4 I'm glad I bought my Xbox one. Apart from that I wished I'd saved my money. Not that I want a ps4, I wasn't a fan of the PS3 but that was because I already had the Xbox 360, also thought the PS3 controller felt flimsy |

Not true at all, you could build a decent pc for less than the price of a console. After that games are cheaper and you never have to pay for online subscription. |

Don't get an Xbox one.
If you want to play kinect and driving stuff get a 360 - you can pick them up for a fraction of the price since the One came out.
All old 360 stuff isn't compatible with the One - software or hardware - so anyone that 'upgraded' had to buy all new stuff.
The 360 is perfectly good for what you want.

I wouldn't suggest either, go with the older models, they're a lot more reliable in my experience.
Although if you're not after competitive games like cod or battlefield get a gaming PC, they are sooooo much better, plus mods. |

Things you can do on a PC you can't on a console.
Play with controller or mouse+ keyboard.
Set up dual/triple screens.
Play modded games. (skyrim modded is 50 times the game)
Download films/games for free.
Have access to steam sales getting games for up to 75% off.
Easily customise every aspect of your gaming experience.
Access to the majority of console games plus the range of PC games you can't get on consoles.
Plus everything you can do on a console and you can build a decent system for 2-300 quid
An amazing system will cost more obviously but if you're willing to spend the money a high end gaming PC leaves even the present gen consoles in the dirt.

My brother does console repairs and he's done lots of PS3's as well as 360's
If I remember rightly isn't there like 4 different models of ps3 with some more prone than others for heating?

X1 as it is much more than just a gaming console, twitch, YouTube, voice command TV, recorded TV, Internet Explorer for all them porn movies on the big screen 
BBC iplayer, All4 app, Demand5 and so much more that is all complimentary, it's a great community too |

You can plug a controller into a pc.
I prefer controllers on fps games as I grew up with consoles but mouse keyboard combination is a lot more responsive.
Some games are better with mouse keyboard, rts games like c&c are a lot better to play on pc. |

The kinect is OK but the novelty soon wears off. PS3/PS4 is my choice |

I've a ps3 (skyrim player too!) and my kids love it (minecraft, skyrim,street fighter and lego games for them)
But the ps3 hasn't had a look in since getting the wii u.
We've half a dozen games for the wii u, but as a family we're playing Mario Kart 8 constantly. It's absolutely mint |

Unfortunately it's unavoidable completely but there are less of them on xbox live, I loved. Modern warfare 1,2,3 and black ops 1 on the xbox went off it after mw3 but one evening at a friends on ps3 was a bad experience.

I'm part of an Xbox family so to speak, although I haven't purchased a Next-gen console as I don't play enough games to justify the price.
Though recently I have been loving playing the Wii-U; MarioKart is a love-hate game. |

I bought a 360 just to play one game. That was it. Bought some more since but only play the one game really and hooked so I have to say xbox360
The last playstation I had was the pS2 lol so a bit behind on the times with playstation. Got the wii with a large amount of games but .5 is limited with movement so she is the side kick when I am on the 360 with the map until I am doing shit with spiders and that is it... I am on my own. lol |
