Yep! But you will have everyone saying "ahhh but i get tested every 3 months" to try point out they are clean as a whistle when they have no fu-kin clue because they only SAY they get tested and never do! |

Not always but if like many have at times bleeding cums, cuts etc there is a much higher risk of infection. |

There is a risk during oral sex but its considerably lower than penetrative sex. We all take risks in life. I have to admit I have sucked guys without condoms. And ive never had a guy go down on me and used a dental dam either. But ive got the information, I know the risk, I make a decision and I get checked regularly. I have no option in my line of work anyway.
STI's that are commonly passed through oral sex are Chlamydia, Genital Herpes, Gonorrhoea and Syphilis, all of these are easily treatable with antibiotics. No im not saying dont worry about it, cos you can just take antibiotics to clear it, im just stating a fact that infections passed via oral are rarely life threatening, unless left untreated and these infections pass through to organs like the liver etc.
Men display symptoms more commonly than women. If a guy is oozing green slime from his dick, if his dick looks like a misshapen cauliflower, then dont suck him, thats my advice. Oh and dont let a guy who has a coldsore go down on you either or vice versa with women 
You just have to make the decision to do or not to do and make the judgement on who you are doing it with and get tested regularly. Ive never seen anyone give oral sex whilst using condoms or dental dams. |

I was talking about this with someone and she said that she gets tested at her gp, the fact that my gp doesnt offer this and i go to the local gum clinic which is at the hospital for check ups along with the fact that she in her 40s still didnt have a clue about most stds or how they are transmitted kinda made me doubt her honesty.
Does anyone get checked at there gp? or know if its something generally offered at a gp surgery?
Just wondering if she was full of rubbish? |

Will or can catch it??? Different things. Can catch, it isn't 100% guaranteed that you will catch a disease just because the other person has it.
If you are so concerned, do you use dental dams when going down on a woman? Do you insist on wearing a condom when a woman gives you oral?
Everything we do in this lifestyle, and in real life carries a risk. Its just doing what you can to minimise that risk, or not doing it. But then life would be very boring if we stopped doing everything that carried a risk.

.....NOT all say they do get tested & talk bollox some really DO get tested ya know so do know there as clean as a whistle.

I have no idea if she was full of it! but if she is in her 40s and has no idea about stds and how they are transmited i would be dubious, I know MY local GP will not do sexual health checks there is a local clinic for that, and i must say they are fantastic! discrete friendly and very helpful, alway leave with a bag full of free condoms lol  (perhaps she is confusing it with her regular smear test?) |

Yes of course thats exactly right. Sorry I was mainly referring to the other STI's. Herpes does always stay in your system, you never get rid and it will lie dormant most of the time but flare up sporadically. You can only get antivirals to lessen the symptoms. Nasty thought isnt it. It is certainly a risk we all take but most of us dont use protection when giving oral so we either choose to take the risk or give up having so many sexual partners.  |

I did share a flat with a girl that got herpes that way.
her face was a total mess and it spread down...now i'm not saying he came all over her face here, i'm saying the herpes did!
