I've got an App that shows you when the Int Space Station is visible overhead, literally just watched it again right over my house at 17,500mph.
It never fails to amaze me how big it is now.
Anyone else feel amazed at what we can actually achieve?
Also anyone ever seen a UFO? |

I've got a decent telescope and it shocked me that you can see the four biggest moons around Jupiter. It was a genuinely weird experience... You see all this stuff on TV and books, but when you see these bits of the solar system are really there, I found it strange. |

Perfectly clear. They still looked like stars, but unmistakable. There was the planet and the four moons, all in a perfect line, all slightly different sizes.
The other weird thing, given my age and the fact I'm quite interested in science, until 2 years ago I'd never realised that you can pick out Mars by sight (if you know approx which direction) because it's pink!
How in 30 - odd years had I never seen a pink star before?!
I can recommend a free pc download called stellarium. Similar to your phone app. |
