Is it possible to live without any?
Im on a long journey to shift weight and ive no issues admitting i was 30st 6 n half pound when i started ..
After only a loss of 1.5 lb i was truly gutted as i worked hard and wanted more. People were really trying to say 'Its a loss, you should be thrilled' etc but i still was dissapointed in myself because i knew how much of an effort id made to change.
Maybe i expect too much from myself, but is that a bad thing to want to change? I've so much drive and ambition to succeed this time. I do have a few obsticals in my way but even with those factored into things i'm still tough and determined |

You need to do whatever makes you happy. If you keep working it will work, just make sure your doing it for the right reasons. To make you happy not others. |

You are young and have to be patient. You learn as you get older to not have high expectations,even down to opening a bag of Cheese and onion walkers. You wait to see if there's more than a handful. Slow and steady is the pace when it comes to weight loss. As long as you're following your recommendations and doing some exercise you will lose it. |

oh and thats another thing i find hard to deal with when i read in magazines..
'i was a size 32 and not im only a size 10'... after loosing 10 stone in weight to now be a healthy 9 stone.
i must have really really dense heavy fat in my 5ft 3 body to be just under 30 stone and yet can wear some size 24 clothes |

Sassy, I've been on that same journey, I still am. I can only say that after nearly five years of it, I've discovered that
-if your focus in on the destination, you'll never get there. What's important (for me) is the journey. When I focus on that, I realise that what I've done is changed my life for the better instead of trying to achieve a single goal
- sometimes, I progress slowly, sometimes quickly. Sometimes I make no progress. But I'm still on the journey, and that's what matters.
-I threw away my scales. Obsessing about every pound is pointless. It's how I feel which is important. Nothing is more depressing that reducing hard work and positive change to a numerical value.
- I applied CBT to my relationship with food. It helped me immensely.
-It's ok to fail. The only person who will judge me, who is of any importance, is myself.
I hope this makes sense. I could be talking bollocks as I'm slightly dehydrated!

Ignore the magazines.
And well done on starting to lose weight - the first steps are the hardest.
I was just under 29 stone, a size 26 and 5ft 4... 18 stone down and now a size 10-ish.
You have the drive and determination to do it.
Slow weight loss stays off, so think of it in small steps or it becomes overwhelming...
I didn't actually have a goal in mind until fairly recently... til then it was just a process and not an end point.

And thats the bit that irks me.. i wanted more from myself especially in the early stages. Having the mass of weight i need to drop i thought id drop more.
a woman in my local weight loss group lost 22 lb in 3 weeks (admitidley she had a baby) and the following week dropped another 5 lb...
i was just pissed off.. id stuck to the plan,, wrote it all down and hadnt taken short cuts. |

People lose weight differently,don't look at what others are achieving and say to yourself I will achieve. As someone above said don't focus on your goal. Change your menu,substitute and don't tell yourself you're on a diet. Healthy eating is the best approach for you and your child. |

i dont have a goal weight in mind, but id love to just have energy
think id suit a curvatious 16/18 maye maintain that for a while.. re adjust and then start again.
in my head i can not seeing going from my weight straight through to being 9stone (or whatever im supposed to be according to my BMI).. i want smaller more practical goals.
I feel that i do not look as heavy as i am (i hope i've not got body image issues) and people are like 'no way' when i tell them how heavy i am |

luckily i've always been blessed that her diet is packed with veg and fruit so the changes for her arent a great deal |

how much have you lost in total Cute? if i recall correctly you had a massive loss initially.
have you done the measuring thing? i know its cliche but you really do lose inches instead of pounds sometimes.
I'd love your determination to stick to plans etc as i do more exercise than ever before at the moment but am not really seeing the results due to my crap eating!! I really ned to get my head around it |

If its a lack of energy, then have a close look at your diet and also get a check up with the doc... It might not be the weight that is the issue.
For me, my energy dips massively when I don't drink enough water...
Oh, and according to BMI I still need to lose a good stone and a half yet... its nonsense. But in all fairness, my gp says I exercise too often for the BMI scale to work right. |

on the SW scales im now 29st 7.5 lb
so there was a difference between my own home scales and theres.. so hard to actually say how much ive lost
When i joined SW i offically started at 29st 13 lb..
but prior to that id already lost 13lb on my scales |

Fluid intake is something ive also increased quite a lot. |

i had to throw my scales out as i weighed myself every day
now i only weigh myself when i can be bothered at the gym lol |

Loosing weigh is really hard
I've battled with my weight all my life, i have also battled CED, I've been everything from a size 26 to a size 8 in my adult life, I loose weight and put it on so fast and have done every unhealthy trick in the book to aid my loss before getting help
Some people just do have an unhealthy relationship with food and its not always as simple as 'just don't eat it' like people who don't have eating problems think it is
I was quite proud of myself last year when I lost 7 stone to be honest is isn't my greatest weight loss but its the first time in my life I have lost weight purely through diet and excerise, without the aid of laxatives and and believe me that was a real breakthrough for me
Its bloody hard I know that but it can be done, even if you only loose a pound a week that's just short of 4 stone a years

Whatever weight you are now and your target weight reach it sensibly. Too much too fast is dangerous as I'm sure you've heard lots already. If one week you put some back on dont lose heart. Dont set a time scale on it. Just have it as your aim. Best of luck. |

Theres a good chance with your diet/exercise regime that you are putting on muscle whilst shedding fat, Muscle weighs around 3x more than fat so you should go by measurements and body fat readings if its making you paranoid. I've lost 3 stone myself since March after recovering from a nasty injury which left me unable to exercise, so long as you keep to your diet its possible |

Well done. Dont give up. Even if you fall 'off the wagon' just think of it as a bit of a blip and not the end of the world.
I struggle with my weight and I know how tough it is to keep your goal in sight.

I know where you're coming from. The first 5 weeks or so of the 'changes' I've made I only lost 6lb in total. In the past when I've done slimming world I would have lost 7lb in the first week without getting off the sofa, so to lose so slowly despite eating really well and exercising like crazy was hard to take!
But then I thought, it's still 6lb lost and it's not like I am going to lose all this weight in a matter of months anyway. To use a cliché, it's a marathon not a sprint. Pick up things that weigh
that 1.5lb and see how heavy it is and how much space they take up.

Get your consultant to show you what a 1.5lb looks like in fat you will be shocked..don't compare their weight loss to yours in group..im the same I only loose small amounts and you always get someone who losses 5 or 6 lb a week but we are all different .Do not be disheartened its a good loss and a steady on. Keep up the good work I know its hard as I'm trying myself.. |
