"Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham ruined Fleetwood Mac. Give me the the Peter Green days..."
Hardly ruined...he was already long gone before they came along and Buckingham is a brilliant guitarist. Watch the Mirage tour video where they were all completely unhinged on and put in a brilliantly edgy performance, unlike the slightly anodyne shows they phone in these days. |

You know me mate, I'm a blues fan and when Nicks and Buckingham came along that side of their music disappeared forever and they became too 'pop' for my tastes. There's a few tunes they've done that are ok but I couldn't name them. |

It still remains that that side of their music was a distant memory by then though...Peter Green had imploded about 5 years and 3 or 4 guitarist prior to Buckingham/Nicks
Look up a live version of I'm so Afraid...preferably pre-1987 |

"Peter Green & Lindsey Buckingham have very different qualities, both good in my honest opinion "
The interesting thing is that Buckingham can make a decent fist of playing Peter Green's parts but I doubt the converse would be true. |

Buckingham cannot match Green's feel, not in a million years. He can play the notes (anyone can) but it's miles apart.not that Buckingham is a bad guitarist - he isn't, I just don't like his songs. |

That's why I said decent fist, Peter Green could play the arse off most people in terms of feel, apart from maybe Paul Kossoff. And you're surely not going to argue that Peter Green could play what Buckingham does in his own songs? His style is as unique as Green's feel was. |

"Would you buy an album of Eddie Van Halen playing Gary Moore's tunes & vice versa
To be fair, GM could play metal way better than EVH can play the blues!"
I know, it was a rhetorical question aimed at MrWho |

I've not bought the latest Van Halen album, they're washed up sell outs!
I'd buy an album of Gary Moore playing Van Halen stuff though! |

Technically Green is no match for Buckingham, that's a given. Green was a perfect example of old British blues, it was about the notes you don't play rather than the ones you do. |

Which is what Kossoff also did so beautifully. |

Kossoff was a rare breed, gorgeous feel and tone. How's this for a little irony - I own two Les Paul's a Gary Moore (based on the one he bought from Peter Green) and a Kossoff! |
