Does anyone really get that wound up and angry at them ?
As someone has already said in another thread lol there are new People joining all the time and those that don't use the search function so threads are repeated.
Who really cares if they are repeated if they annoy you that much don't read them it's not as if you don't know what's in them anyway, I can't see the issue at all to be honest |

By the way Kev....hasn't this topic been addressed before in a previous thread?

Im sure everything has been covered at some point by someone.
My pet peeve, timewaster threads, what do I do, I ignore them.
People should post what they like, if it never been done woohoo something knew to discuss, if its been asked a hundred times before, well ignore it or give your standard answer to the question, thats your choice.
I dont think folks should be berated for asking something that has been asked before. |

I like threads to be repeated...if someone has learnt something new since the last thread or had a new experience, it gives them the opportunity to share it |

I don't ever get wound up at repetetive threads. I have the option whether to read them or not. Sometimes I choose to read them and it really is a different set of people giving their views with a few stalwarts giving sound advice.
No one expects children to know the facts of life because adults have had sex.
No one expects a car passenger to know the gears are dicky cos the driver has driven for years.
No one should expect others NOT to be curious and ask a question or put an opinion just cos someone else had a conversation about it in the past.
People who moan about the repeats are actually sick with their own life and thier inability to find something interesting to do but just dont recognise it. |

Exactly my point! i didnt know there was a search facility on the forums back last October when i registered, now i do though i rarely use it.
On another point though, new people brings new blood and perhaps also a different angle to a subject, sometimes its not been thought of on here. Also when posting on a thread, another member may think "ah i didnt know that, wonder if" and off they go to post a new forum message. |

I had some repetitive threads once. Wore them to weddings, funerals, christenings, even down the pub with the lads. Then I got a pay rise and got some natty new threads.
PS I don't care if this lame 'play on words' has been used before |

It has been known for me to be battered around the house but thats usually when I've gone out for the 'Pink' Echo on a Friday and rolled in pissed on a Sunday [those were the days]. I'm happy to report I'm stone cold sober today. There is an ill wind whistling roundmy nethers though Granny |

Turned round and came back...
To stave off the crochety, and to maintain harmony, my point was that over the years the same twelve notes have been used to express countless different sentiments in countless different styles.... with very few repeats...
You may now add your counterpoint...
{and I aint soft...} |

no different to sarcastic/funny ones on a serious thread

Au contraire. Totally different. The thread began as a sarky one with a hint of post modern irony. To attempt to alter it o a serious thread demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the original premise. Bong, bong. |

Its not repetitive threads that are annoying its the content of some of them. Some people clearly do not read threads and post something that is clearly not reliant.
As forums age the likelihood of something being done before becomes more and more likely. |

Think someone's being over analytical.
It's only a thread.....I tend not to spend that long considering the serious/sarky ratio....I just say how I feel.
Thought that was the point! |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
I don't get angry, but it is disappointing that the sensible practice of checking via a search if the subject already exists hasn't been tried.
Especially when it's such an obvious subject.
There are plenty of forums (forii?) Around the internet where failing to search first would bring forth a torrent of abuse. Luckily, nobody gets abused on here, thanks to the very attractive mods... |
