Isn't it annoying when people jump to conclusions/assumptions without really knowing you/the situation?

I form opinions about people all the time, mostly over the test of time I am right.

Occasionally, I am wrong but care very little as I am not here for longevity or life long contact

There's a guy at work who does this all of the time then rants away because he's absolutely right in his mind and doesn't need hardly any of the facts. Pretty sure he'd believe he would have solved the enigma code with barely any info at all. A thoroughly irritating individual who'll never change, some folk just can't help themselves I assume/conclude.

We all make assumptions and opinions of other people and even not being honest with ourselves...that's life so I live and let live and assume nothing

"Isn't it annoying when people jump to conclusions/assumptions without really knowing you/the situation? "

It's completely natural to make quick conclusions or assumptions, I suggest it's instinctive. People have to make a conscious effort to reprogram some elements of that natural reaction.

As I have got older and wiser I have learnt to be less annoyed by how others may perceive me especially if their peception cannot effect me.

What really matters is how you perceive the assumptions and as on here we are just up for fun , it matters not one bit

To Assume is to make ASS of U and ME! Lol like to give people a chance as much as possible because I was teased most of my life with incorrect narrow minded assumptions xx

The problem is that too many people make assumptions and assume they are correct.

They never factor in that they might be wrong.

Isn't it more that people tend to apply new information to what it means to them not the person its about

Forums are bad for it as there is no emotion in text so people naturally read and convert the meaning to suite their experience\knowledge.

As said the key is the ability to accept wrong and change _iew

Yep. Although it does make me smile when the people who rant about others making assumptions, make the biggest ones themselves

Best thing to do is not to get drawn into it, if the person thinks something why bother trying to argue. I couldnt give a fuck what someone thinks

Whilst we're unable to swing we have a message on our profile saying as such. The assumption that we're often met with is that the "real reason" why we're not swinging is because we're undecided Just to make it clear... WE'RE NOT UNDECIDED. We're just snowed under by "real life" at the mo... no that isn't code for saying we're undecided... it's the actual reason.

In a recent PM we were told that we're timewasters (bearing in mind that this was in reply to them giving us a wink and us messaging back a polite "hi" so no actual timewasting at all)... but that's the whole point of putting our non-swinging status clearly on our profile so that we don't waste anyone's time Some people are just out to be offended, to be judgemental, and to make a total arse of themselves

To make an assumption is to make an ass out of umption or something.

It was funnier in my head.

No. Thoughts of people who don't know me personally are insignificant to me.

"Isn't it annoying when people jump to conclusions/assumptions without really knowing you/the situation? "

It's unfair but human nature. I've had assumptions made about me but all it made me think was that the people making the assumption were the idiots, not me. Making judgments is wrought with pitfalls.

Central

It's standard for the human mind. We are meaning creating and associating animals. Looking for patterns we recognizse all the time, mostly unconsciously - so that we don't learn the same things over and over. It's brain efficiency at its best.

Depending on how much conscious thought we implement, we have abilities to determine and decide otherwise to habitual inclinations. Most of us are lazyish and don't expend much brain effort.

It's easy to see how prejudices get propagated.

I like to give people the chance to reveal themselves.
